Tsukihi House Kyoto
Staying at Tsukihi House Kyoto was an unforgettable experience. The traditional Japanese architecture beautifully blends with modern touches—wooden beams, tatami floors, and minimalist design create a serene, authentic atmosphere. Despite its old-world charm, the room is fully equipped with modern comforts like air conditioning and a well-maintained bathroom. I loved waking up to the quiet of the neighborhood, just steps away from Gion’s historic streets. The location is perfect for exploring Kyoto on foot or by subway. It’s rare to find such a peaceful yet convenient stay with such a high level of comfort and character. Definitely one of the most memorable stays I’ve had in Japan.

It’s a great spot for train enthusiasts or families with kids. Plus, getting to major attractions like Fushimi Inari Shrine or Kiyomizu-dera is super easy via local bus, usually taking only 20 to 30 minutes without transfers. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the overall experience felt both comfortable and authentic. Highly recommend this gem if you're looking for a peaceful yet well-connected base in Kyoto.

The place was generally great—clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with everything we needed. The Wi-Fi connection was quite unreliable, and the air conditioner was extremely loud, which made it hard to sleep or relax. We reached out to the host for help, but they just suggested lowering the fan speed, which didn’t fix the noise issue. Since the room got really cold, we ended up not using the AC at all. It was a bit disappointing because of that, but apart from those problems, the rest of the stay was pleasant. The location is convenient, and the space felt cozy and thoughtfully designed. Would still consider returning if the internet and AC issues were resolved.

A clearer map or better on-site directions would make a big difference for future guests.

Staying at Ryokan Yamazaki was an absolute delight—so glad we chose this hidden gem! The rooms were spotless, the futons incredibly comfortable, and the breakfasts were absolutely delicious. The location is perfect—serene, clean air, surrounded by beautiful traditional neighborhoods. The staff went above and beyond with their warm hospitality and attention to detail. Truly 1000/10 service! Just a quick heads-up: the nearest bus stops serve only two routes, and they stop running at a certain time, so plan your travel accordingly. Despite that small note, the experience was flawless. If you're visiting Kyoto, don’t miss this place—it’s worth every penny.

Staying at Mibuan Hotel was an absolute delight! The hotel offers bicycles, which made our short stroll to the station both fun and relaxing—perfect for taking in the local scenery along the way. Even better, they’re pet-friendly, so my dog could join me throughout the trip without any worries. The atmosphere is peaceful, the staff were welcoming, and the overall experience felt like a true home away from home. Highly recommend this gem in Kyoto!

Even though the parking area is a bit of a walk from the hotel, it didn’t take away from the overall great experience. I especially appreciated the washer and dryer setup; they even provided laundry balls, and drying clothes in the bathroom using the built-in dryer was super convenient. My kids had a blast exploring the room, turning it into their own little hide-and-seek playground—no worries about them falling out of bed thanks to the safe layout. The only minor downside? No convenience store nearby, but there’s a small grocery shop just a short walk away. There’s also a bus stop right outside the door, making public transport accessible. The nearest JR station is a 10-15 minute walk, which is totally manageable considering how quiet and peaceful the neighborhood is. Plus, you can easily reach the Kitanomaru Park and the famous Kitano Tenman-gu Shrine within a similar walking distance. Overall, this place offers excellent value, comfort, and a true local experience. I’d definitely come back for my next trip to Kyoto—and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy, hassle-free stay.
