Ten Bompas Hotel

I can't say enough good things about Ten Bompas Hotel. After growing skeptical of the boutique hotel label—often meaning overpromised, overpriced, and underdelivered—I was pleasantly surprised to find that Ten Bompas is the real deal. As one of South Africa’s original boutique properties, it truly lives up to its reputation. The staff throughout the property were exceptional—from front desk to housekeeping. We arrived after a long trip through Namibia with a huge load of laundry, and I was shocked to discover that laundry service was included at no extra cost. Kudos to the housekeeper who handled everything so efficiently—she absolutely earned her tip! Every team member embodies what hospitality should be: warm, thoughtful, and genuine. I especially want to highlight General Manager Sean for his outstanding leadership and personal touch. But honestly, every single person we interacted with made us feel welcome. The food was another highlight—the chicken was hands-down the best I’ve had in South Africa. And yes, the fireplace is wood-burning—a rare and delightful touch these days. If you get the chance to stay here, don’t hesitate. It’s a true gem, and worth every penny.

Marriott Executive Apartments Johannesburg, Melrose Arch

The large windows offered fantastic views of the city skyline while letting in plenty of natural light—perfect for relaxing after a busy day. The staff were incredibly helpful and professional, always ready to assist without being intrusive. Everything from the kitchenette to the bedding was top-notch. It felt like home, but with luxury touches everywhere. For the price, this place offers incredible value and comfort. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Johannesburg.
