What a difference a few years can make! We recently visited Deep Creek Lake and Swallow Falls, and decided to stay a few nights in nearby Oakland. While we weren’t planning on booking at Oak-Mar Motel—having stayed there before and found it just okay—we were pleasantly surprised by the recent renovations. The entire property has been refreshed, with upgraded beds, modern furniture, and tasteful decor that really elevates the experience. Despite the improvements, the rates remain very reasonable. The staff went above and beyond to be helpful and welcoming. Having a diner right on-site was a real plus—we noticed locals eating there throughout our stay, which gave us confidence in the quality of the food. There are also several great dining options nearby, including a fantastic BBQ spot just a 5-10 minute walk away that smokes all its meats in-house—highly recommended. This trip completely changed our opinion, and we’re already planning to return.

Our one-night stay at Long Branch Motel was absolutely fantastic! From the moment we arrived, the friendly staff and owner made us feel welcome. The room was spotless—every detail was clean and well-maintained, which really stood out, especially after a long drive. The theme of the room was charming and added a nice personal touch. Hot water with strong pressure made for a relaxing shower, and the bed was incredibly comfortable—perfect for a good night's rest. Check-in and check-out were smooth and hassle-free. The location is convenient for exploring the area, just a short distance from downtown Oakland. We appreciated how close it was to everything we needed without being too far from quiet surroundings. Overall, an excellent value and a great place to stay if you're passing through or planning a quick getaway. Highly recommend!

The Oakland Motel truly exceeded my expectations. From the moment I arrived, the staff were warm and welcoming, making the check-in process smooth and pleasant. The rooms are spotless and incredibly comfortable, with a tasteful Americana decor that gives the space a cozy, authentic charm. Being centrally located, I was just steps away from local shops, restaurants, and attractions—perfect for exploring the city without needing to drive far. Every detail, from the bedding to the thoughtful touches in the room, made me feel at home. This is one of those rare stays where everything feels just right—great value, great location, and great hospitality. Would definitely return and recommend to anyone visiting Oakland.
