Edinburgh Regency Guest House
I stayed at Edinburgh Regency Guest House during a really tough time, and I can't recommend it for anyone. The staff were polite enough, but the owner clearly doesn’t care about guests’ wellbeing. The rooms are extremely run-down — peeling paint, worn-out furniture, and poor maintenance everywhere. I found signs of rodents and even had worms come out of the shower tray, which was deeply unsettling. I was told it wasn’t harmful to my kids, but how can you trust that when the place is so neglected? There were also uninvited individuals staying there, and my children witnessed and overheard disturbing things — completely unacceptable for a family-friendly space. The owner claims he’d never live in these conditions with his own family, but if that’s true, why allow such a place to operate this way? It’s clear money is the only priority here. This isn’t just a bad stay — it’s unsafe, unsanitary, and utterly disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, especially not with children.

The only drawbacks are the building’s age: street noise can be noticeable at night, so earplugs are recommended, and some doors rattle when closed. The mattress also had a visible dent from years of use, causing me to roll into it each night, which slightly affected comfort. Despite that, the warm hospitality, cleanliness, and great location make this a highly recommendable stay. I’d definitely come back and wouldn’t hesitate to suggest it to others.

Staying at Salisbury Court was an absolute delight, especially with my mom and 9-year-old kid. From the warm welcome to the super helpful checkout process, every interaction was friendly and efficient. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the room spotless, and having access to a kitchen and shared lounge made our stay so much more enjoyable—especially getting to chat with a grandmother and her daughter from the Netherlands! Despite being quite full, it stayed peaceful and quiet throughout our visit. The location was perfect—we were close to Arthur’s Seat, could easily hail a cab to and from the train station, and even enjoyed a nice walk into the city center. It’s rare to find such a well-located, clean, and welcoming place with great amenities and a relaxed vibe. Highly recommend for families or travelers looking for comfort and convenience in Edinburgh.

We stayed at this five-bedroom, five-bathroom house for three nights and found it great for our large group. The bathrooms were inconsistent too: some rooms had spacious ones, but the top-floor bedroom shared a tiny bathroom with barely any room to place toiletries—everything had to go on the floor. Also, the TVs were only portable-sized, which felt underwhelming for the price point. For a property like this, decent-sized TVs and reliable internet should be standard. Overall, the house was functional and spacious enough for a family or group, but the lack of proper amenities made the experience feel a bit disappointing given the cost.

The room was spacious and inviting—bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable, making for a restful night’s sleep. The bathroom was recently renovated, beautifully designed, and everything worked perfectly. Located just a short walk from the city center, we were surrounded by fantastic restaurants and lively bars. A wonderful park was only a 3-minute stroll away—perfect for a relaxing evening stroll.
