That said, cleanliness across the room was still good, and the beds were nicely soft with high-quality linens that made for a very restful night’s sleep. If the twin room’s maintenance could be improved—especially around the bathroom—the experience would be even better. Along the way, we found little convenience stores with bubble machines for the kids and warm tea for the elders—such a thoughtful touch. The family room had two spacious beds, and while there was no balcony, the large windows let in gorgeous morning light that streamed across the rooftops opposite. Not including breakfast actually worked out well—we could each grab something local: the kids loved the street-side oyster noodles, the grandparents enjoyed authentic Xiamen-style seafood rice, and I happily devoured a crispy tangyuan. We met back in the room, then headed to Huangcuo Beach at our own relaxed pace. It was exactly the kind of slow, unhurried trip that made everyone happy.
