Istanbul Marriott Hotel Sisli
My two-night stay at the Istanbul Marriott Hotel Sisli turned out to be one of the most bizarre experiences I've had across many countries. On day one, after using the restroom, I noticed the entire inside of the toilet bowl was covered in dried urine stains—quite disgusting. I immediately called the front desk requesting cleaning, and a staff member arrived shortly afterward. He was diligent and thoroughly cleaned the area, so I gave him 100 Turkish lira as a tip—a gesture I genuinely appreciated. The next morning, during breakfast, a hotel manager approached guests for feedback. When it was my turn, I mentioned the previous night’s hygiene issue. She listened attentively, took down my room number, and promised to look into it and possibly upgrade our accommodation. I left the hotel feeling hopeful. Around 10 PM that evening, I returned and was told we’d been moved to the highest floor. I assumed this meant a room upgrade—my excitement was real. But when we finally reached the 33rd floor, things took a strange turn: the elevator didn’t go directly there. We had to transfer to a smaller elevator via the 30th or 31st floor, then walk through a narrow corridor. Once inside the new room, I was shocked—the space was noticeably smaller than our original room. Beds were pushed closer together, and we lost the desk and sofa entirely. The bathroom had shrunk by nearly half. This wasn’t an upgrade—it felt like a prank. Disappointed, I asked to return to our original room. We had to retrace our steps through multiple elevators, which was extremely inconvenient. Later, my colleague requested tea leaves be sent up. The front desk confirmed it would come promptly—but over an hour passed with no delivery. Only after I called again did someone finally arrive. Throughout the entire stay, the two hand soap bottles on the sink remained dusty, untouched by housekeeping. Even worse, during the final two nights, I found a mysterious stain under the bed cover when I lifted the blanket—too tired to complain, I just avoided that spot. Another incident involved the lounge server: when I asked to settle my bill, she ignored me completely—no eye contact, no response—even after three attempts. I had to step outside to smoke a cigarette before returning and standing right in front of her until she finally handed over the invoice. I paid in cash. To be honest, this experience fell far short of what I expect from a five-star hotel. Service, cleanliness, and facilities were all subpar. Despite giving at least 100 TL in tips daily, I got very little in return. If you're considering a Marriott stay in Istanbul, please look elsewhere. This property offers terrible value for money.

The staff went above and beyond—on our last day, I asked if we could check out at 3 PM, and they kindly accommodated us without hesitation. The location is excellent; it's very convenient for getting around the city, with easy access to public transit and major attractions. Breakfast was outstanding—plenty of variety, fresh ingredients, and top-notch quality. The rooms were spotless, well-maintained, and offered a perfect balance of luxury and comfort. From start to finish, the service was impeccable, and the attention to detail made us feel truly valued. This hotel delivers an unforgettable stay and is absolutely worth every penny.

The location is unbeatable—just a 2-minute walk to Hagia Sophia, 3 minutes to the Blue Mosque, and about 5–10 minutes to the Underground Cistern. We explored the city entirely on foot: morning visits to Hagia Sophia and the cistern, a quick break back at the hotel, then on to the museums, followed by a relaxed stroll to the Blue Mosque. Everything was so close and easy to access, making our itinerary feel effortless. Our suite was spacious and comfortable, with a design that truly captures the essence of Turkish heritage. The small courtyard garden inside the property is a hidden gem—though we visited in winter and couldn’t enjoy it fully, I can only imagine how lovely it would be during warmer months, especially with a drink at the garden bar. That said, there were a few drawbacks. The room’s ceiling height feels a bit low, which made it slightly oppressive after a while. Windows open only a narrow gap, and the intricate exterior grillwork limits natural light and airflow. Also, our room faced a quiet street, so daytime noise from staff activity and early-morning foot traffic made it less peaceful than expected. If you’re sensitive to sound, opt for a room facing the inner courtyard or garden instead. A local Chinese restaurant nearby offers basic options—nothing special, but nice to have when craving familiar food. There are other dining spots within walking distance, though we didn’t get a chance to try them. Parking isn’t available right at the entrance; guests must use a nearby lot, but the hotel arranges shuttle service efficiently—no hassle at all. Overall, this hotel shines brightest in location and atmosphere. Perfect for travelers who love exploring old-town landmarks on foot. Just choose your room wisely, and you’ll have a memorable, stress-free stay.

We stayed at Millennium Istanbul Golden Horn with my family, and the experience was absolutely outstanding. The staff at reception were incredibly warm and welcoming—always smiling and making guests feel at home. One small note: the room door seemed to have a minor issue in the morning—maybe accidentally unlocked? But it didn’t affect our stay at all. What truly stood out was the location—just a short walk from the waterfront, so no need for a car. The metro station is right outside the hotel, giving quick access to the city center in just minutes. There’s also a small convenience store and several light dining options right by the metro entrance, plus a lovely little park across the street—perfect for a morning stroll. The area feels safe, quiet, and well-connected. Overall, an excellent choice for travelers who value comfort, convenience, and a peaceful atmosphere. I’d definitely recommend this hotel.
Radisson Blu Hotel, Istanbul Pera
We stayed at Radisson Blu Hotel, Istanbul Pera for six nights at the end of August, and overall it was a fantastic experience. The hotel has a nice vibe, though it's not brand new—some mirrors on the floors show slight rust, likely due to the humid climate, but it doesn't detract from the comfort or atmosphere. The front desk staff were friendly and professional, speaking fluent English, and one lady even spoke Russian—super helpful when arranging transportation. We booked taxis through the hotel, and unlike street hails where drivers often overcharge, we were charged exactly what was expected. A trip to Sultan Ahmet Mosque cost only around 160–170 Turkish lira (roughly 350 RUB), which is incredibly affordable compared to other options. The rooftop restaurant offers breathtaking panoramic views of Istanbul, and the large lounge area with sofas and tables makes it perfect for relaxing with coffee and a cigarette. While the rooms don’t have balconies, they’re spotless, and the bedding is top-notch—luxurious pillows, high-quality mattress, and crisp linens that made for an excellent night’s sleep. Most guests are international travelers, giving the place a cosmopolitan feel. Breakfast was solid with a good variety of options, though we never saw meat served—which might be a downside for some. But there are plenty of affordable, tasty cafes right outside the hotel, catering to every taste. All in all, this was one of the best stays I’ve had in Istanbul, especially given the location, service, and value.
