Anukampa Paying Guest House
Staying at Anukampa Paying Guest House was an absolute highlight of my trip to Agra. The room I booked was spotless, spacious, and featured a private balcony—perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view. One of the most memorable moments was watching the sunset from the rooftop terrace, where you can also spot monkeys roaming around the area—such a unique local touch. The staff went above and beyond; every request was handled promptly and warmly, making me feel truly welcomed. The Wi-Fi connection was reliable throughout my stay, which was great for staying connected. Location-wise, it's convenient for reaching major attractions like the Taj Mahal via public transit. Overall, this place stands out as one of the best accommodations I've experienced in India—authentic, comfortable, and full of charm. I’d definitely return without hesitation.
Bhoomi Residency
We booked this hotel through a platform for a family stay over Christmas, expecting amenities like a rooftop bar, swimming pool, and on-site restaurant. Unfortunately, none of these were operational during our visit. The staff were polite but seemed genuinely surprised to have guests arrive—almost as if they weren’t expecting any bookings. Once inside the room, we immediately noticed the door lock didn’t work properly, making it impossible to secure the room. There was no safe in the room, and the temperature was freezing despite the thermostat being set. Pillows were torn and looked unclean, and the overall cleanliness gave the impression that the room desperately needed a deep clean. The window overlooked an ongoing construction site, with thick mud stains visible from the outside. In the second room, exposed wiring was present where the light switch should be—meaning lights could only be controlled from outside the room. Inside, there was a significant amount of black mold growing along the walls. To make matters worse, all the promotional photos clearly did not reflect reality—the property appeared to still be under construction. After spending just 45 minutes at the hotel, we decided to transfer to another accommodation. The only reason this gets one star is due to the staff’s courteous attitude. We’ve requested a full refund, as the experience fell drastically short of expectations.

The hotel’s location is unbeatable—just a short walk from the Taj Mahal, putting you right in the heart of Agra’s vibrant local life. You’re surrounded by street vendors, authentic culture, and a real sense of place. The staff at the entrance and front desk were incredibly helpful and welcoming—always ready to assist with directions, luggage, or recommendations. Breakfast was standard Indian fare, but if you're used to Western breakfasts, you can request eggs easily—my choice was delicious. The chai was excellent, served with warm hospitality. I noticed a supervisor walking through the dining area each night with a notepad and pencil, checking on rooms and guest experiences—such a thoughtful touch that shows real attention to detail. My room was spotless, the bathroom met North American standards (toilet paper included!), and the elevator comfortably fits six people and works perfectly. Outside, friendly stray dogs roam around—no worries at all. Next door, I watched older women carrying bricks on their heads while working alongside their children. Moved by the scene, I invited them over and gave each a small amount of money. Moments like this made the stay feel so much more meaningful. Overall, it’s a well-run, authentic, and heartwarming experience.

Being just minutes away from major attractions like the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort made our sightseeing so much more efficient. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the overall value for money was outstanding. If you're visiting Agra, this is definitely a top choice. I’d stay here again without hesitation.

The lush courtyard oasis, the incredible collection of art pieces scattered throughout, spacious and beautifully designed rooms, and most importantly—delicious, healthy breakfast and dinner—make this homestay stand out in every way. We only stayed one night, but I’d love to come back for more. A gem that exceeds expectations.

I slept like a baby every night — something I didn’t expect on this kind of budget. If you're traveling light on cash and want a no-frills, reliable stay in Agra, this place delivers. Just keep in mind it might get a bit hot in summer, but for the price? Totally worth it. Don’t come here expecting luxury — but if you’re realistic about what you’re paying for, you’ll leave happy.

The food is delicious too, with authentic local flavors that truly stand out. Best part? You can walk straight to the Taj Mahal from the hotel, and a quick tuk-tuk ride gets you to Agra Fort. The surrounding neighborhood is full of charm—wander through the little streets, explore local shops, and soak in the vibrant culture. It’s such a convenient and memorable base for exploring Agra. Highly recommended!

Staying at this homestay in September was an unforgettable experience. The host, Ali, is simply amazing—warm, incredibly kind, and highly professional. The room was beautifully decorated with great taste and spotlessly clean; I truly didn’t want to leave. I wish I had stayed longer so I could have tried the delicious home-cooked meals prepared by his wife—definitely a must-try on my next visit! What made it even more special was how Ali kept sharing stunning photos of the flowers on his lovely terrace. It felt like being part of a quiet, peaceful home away from home.
