Staying at Hotel Penaga was a delightful experience from start to finish. The hotel has a rich history and the lobby, along with furnishings on each floor, are thoughtfully designed with great taste. My room was absolutely charming—every detail, from the bed linens and cushions to the wall art, featured beautiful bird motifs. As a bird lover, I couldn’t help but smile every time I looked around. The bathroom was spotlessly clean and the shower and tub worked perfectly. I didn’t quite figure out how to operate the jacuzzi, but after a long day of walking, soaking in it was pure bliss. Next time, I’ll bring my own bath salts. The building is old, so when guests upstairs walk, you can hear the floorboards creak slightly—nothing disruptive, just a little character. Most attractions are within walking distance, and the neighborhood stays quiet at night, making it ideal for a peaceful stay. One highlight? The sunset view from the balcony—it was breathtaking. And don’t miss the nearby Nasi Kandar Deen Mutiara. The food is delicious and definitely worth a visit.

Penang is big and full of hidden gems, so having a car really helped us explore everything—from quiet beaches and cozy cafés to vibrant markets, bird parks, and local farms. One of the highlights? The infinity pool overlooking the sea and city towers. Watching the sunrise from the water’s edge in the morning, then soaking in the moonlit reflections at night—it felt surreal. The location is ideal, the space is spacious and well-designed, and the service was consistently top-notch. We’re already planning our return trip.
