Staying at Umma Barcelona B&B Boutique was a really pleasant experience overall. The only minor hiccup was that the front desk closes at 5:30 PM, which could be tricky if you arrive later—though they send clear instructions ahead of time, so it’s not a big issue. The continental breakfast was solid: fresh coffee, bread, and simple but satisfying options. The staff were friendly and spoke excellent English, making check-in and communication easy. My only small frustration was getting the TV to work, but since I don’t watch much TV anyway, it didn’t bother me much. What really stood out was the location—walking distance to the metro and plenty of great local eateries nearby. It’s a quiet, well-located spot with a nice vibe. I’d definitely stay here again if I’m back in Barcelona.

We stayed at this place as a couple and were happy with the private bathroom room we booked—clean, functional, and just right for our needs. Shared bathrooms were available in other rooms, but we didn’t mind skipping that. The shared kitchen was basic but worked perfectly for preparing simple meals. The room is located on a busy street, so if you’re sensitive to noise, keep the windows closed. Since there’s no air conditioning, opening them might be unavoidable during warmer hours—but overall, the sound didn’t disrupt our stay unless we were trying to sleep near the window. The location is excellent: metro and bus stops are just steps away, making it super easy to explore downtown Barcelona. We walked to the Olympic Stadium and nearby green spaces without any trouble. Two grocery stores are within walking distance, which is great for grabbing snacks or essentials. Honestly, you get what you pay for here—simple, no frills, but very practical. It worked perfectly for us, especially if you're looking for a budget-friendly base with great access to city life.
Go BCN Hostal Ideal Badal - Hostel
Barcelona is one of my favorite cities, and I stayed at this hostel back in 2021—regrettably, it was a huge disappointment. I’d say absolutely do not book a room here. This was probably the worst accommodation experience I’ve ever had. The room wasn’t clean when I arrived—I reported it, and someone came to fix it. By evening, it was slightly better, but still far from acceptable, especially the bathroom, which looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. Food was underwhelming—nothing terrible, but definitely only two stars out of five at best. Staff seemed unreliable and unresponsive. To make things worse, about a month after booking, I got an email claiming my visa details were invalid and my reservation was canceled. That was a flat-out lie. It’s unacceptable when you trust a hotel to honor their end of the agreement, especially when travelers are counting on it for their holiday plans. I tried reaching out multiple times—no response whatsoever. Other reviews saying communication is nearly impossible? They’re spot on. I eventually rebooked and this time it went through—but honestly, I wish I hadn’t. The whole experience left a bad taste. I’ll definitely return to Barcelona, but never again to Hostal Ideal Badal. Not recommended at all.

When one guest refused to turn off their light at 3 a.m., the team handled it calmly but firmly—they spoke with him, and when he wouldn’t comply, they asked him to leave. In many hostels, you’d be stuck enduring that kind of disruption, but here, your comfort is respected. The place feels like a tight-knit community with clear rules, not chaos. It’s clearly run with care and integrity. Booking early is essential—this place fills up fast, especially during peak season. If you’re looking for a safe, comfortable, and honest stay in Barcelona, this is the one. A true gem.
