Staying at Shangri-La Hotel, Suzhou Yuanqu was an absolute delight. The location is fantastic—right next to 711, FamilyMart, and Starbucks, so grabbing a quick coffee or snack is super convenient. A short walk takes you to Xinguang Plaza and Juyou Department Store, perfect for some shopping without needing to travel far. In the evening, we headed to the Ferris wheel and were pleasantly surprised by how few people were in line—got tickets and boarded right away, enjoying stunning views of the city skyline. The hotel’s Chinese restaurant served amazing noodles with crisp vegetables, and the squirrel-shaped mandarin fish was freshly prepared—absolutely delicious. Breakfast was a highlight too, with a diverse menu including sesame dumplings, Ao Zao noodles, egg rolls, Benedict eggs, sweet pea and pomelo cheese salad, and the yellow peach milk banana pancake—each dish was flavorful and satisfying. Staff were friendly and attentive throughout our stay. From comfort to convenience, every detail was spot-on. This place truly delivers on luxury and value. I’ll definitely be back.

I’ve dined at Xinchu a few times before, but this was my first time staying at Niccolo Suzhou—completely different experience! I booked the lake-view N3 room through Karina for my birthday, and it was absolutely perfect. Facing the Oriental Gate, the night views are stunning—glittering lights reflecting on the water, like something out of a movie. Karina went above and beyond with her service—she even surprised me with a birthday cake 🎂, which made the whole stay feel special. The breakfast extending until 11 AM is such a thoughtful touch, especially on weekends when you can just enjoy it as a relaxed brunch and skip lunch. The only minor downside? The room ran surprisingly hot—even at 16°C, it felt stuffy, and by afternoon it seemed close to 30°C, so maybe a slight AC adjustment would help. Also, the pool is on the smaller side. But overall, the exceptional service, incredible location, and beautiful views more than make up for it. A fantastic stay with great value!

The Chinese restaurant on-site has a beautiful ambiance and serves delicious, well-prepared dishes—definitely worth a visit. Breakfast was a highlight too: abundant choices, fresh ingredients, and excellent quality across both Western and local options. Everything about this hotel screams quality and care. Despite having been around for a while, the property feels fresh and well-maintained, with clean rooms and modern amenities throughout. Upon check-in, the front desk staff kindly asked about room preferences, which led to a complimentary upgrade to a room with a better view—offering lovely glimpses of the lake, especially stunning in the evening. The lobby team was warm and attentive, making the arrival smooth and welcoming. One small note: there was a coffee spill at the café area that wasn’t cleaned up immediately, but it didn’t detract much from the overall experience. All in all, this is a great choice for travelers seeking comfort, convenience, and a touch of luxury in Suzhou.

We ended up switching from the soon-to-be-closed Yangcheng Lake Banyan Tree—our original plan was a last-minute escape. Choosing Four Seasons Suzhou turned out to be one of our best decisions. The location is unbeatable: directly on the lake, with a peaceful walkway along the water that’s easy and relaxing. The hotel itself isn’t huge, so you can easily explore it without feeling overwhelmed. Our room was spacious and well-proportioned, with two single beds and a sofa that converted into an extra bed—perfect for three of us, and we all slept comfortably. We upgraded in-house for a small fee to a higher-floor lake-view room, and the view was absolutely stunning. Waking up to the calm, glass-like surface of Jinji Lake instantly lifted our mood. Dining was a bit tricky—we didn’t pre-book the Chinese restaurant, and every seating was fully booked. We tried the buffet instead, which was solid but nothing extraordinary. Still, compared to the previous hotel where the air conditioning broke in the Chinese restaurant and the Western dining only served breakfast, this was a major improvement. Staff were attentive and genuinely tried to make things right when issues came up—effort definitely shows. One highlight? The little crab buns and children’s key cards they prepared for our kids. They couldn’t stop talking about them, wore the bags everywhere, and insisted on swiping their own card to open the door. It was such a thoughtful touch that won over the whole family.

The location is unbeatable—just a short walk from the metro station, and you’re literally one minute away from the historic Pingjiang Road, where the charm of old Suzhou comes alive. The hotel itself has such a refined atmosphere—so elegant and full of character, making it easy to capture beautiful photos right on the premises. Every staff member we met was warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. They even surprised us with breakfast vouchers for our child—a thoughtful touch that made the stay extra special. At check-out, the front desk agent, Ms. Wang, went above and beyond by asking if we were satisfied and handed us a small gift as a farewell token. It felt so personal and heartfelt. The hotel overall is excellent—comfortable rooms, great amenities, and friendly staff. While it’s a bit of a walk from the nearest subway station, it’s manageable and not a major issue. Breakfast was decent with a variety of options, but the coffee and tea were disappointing. The coffee was extremely weak—by far the weakest I’ve had in any hotel stay. The black tea tasted more like colored water than actual tea, and there were no fresh tea bags available for brewing. It really brought down the experience, especially since other aspects of the stay were so positive. That said, the room comfort, cleanliness, and service all exceeded expectations. Definitely worth staying again if they can upgrade the beverage offerings.
