The Liberty Bell in Philadelphia is an enduring symbol of American freedom, weighing over 2,000 pounds with its iconic crack. Inscribed with the biblical verse "Proclaim Liberty Throughout All the Land," this bronze bell became a powerful emblem during the American Revolution. Today, you can see this national treasure at Independence National Historical Park, where its silent presence speaks volumes about the birth of a nation. Don't miss touching the famous crack while learning how this bell rallied colonists for independence – it's history you can literally reach out and feel!

Everything you need to know about Bell
The bell weighs approximately 2,080 pounds (940 kg) with a circumference of 12 feet (3.7 m) at the lip. Its height from lip to crown is 3 feet (0.91 m), featuring the iconic "Pass and Stow" inscription referring to its Philadelphia founders.
Physical contact is strictly prohibited to preserve the historic artifact. A 3D tactile model is available for visually impaired visitors. The bell is displayed in a climate-controlled chamber with humidity stabilizers to prevent further corrosion.
Its association with independence grew when abolitionists adopted the bell's imagery in the 1830s. The crack was reinterpreted as symbolizing America's unfinished journey toward equality. During WWII, it toured the country to promote war bond sales, solidifying its iconic status.
Over 50 full-scale replicas exist worldwide, including at Independence National Historical Park's visitor center. The most famous traveling replica was used in WWII patriotism rallies. Japan's Tama Bell shares identical dimensions but different inscriptions.
A microcrystalline wax coating prevents oxidation, applied annually. The chamber maintains 50% humidity with temperature at 68°F (20°C). Laser scans monitor crack movement, and vibration sensors ensure nearby construction doesn't cause damage.
Commissioned in 1751 to commemorate Pennsylvania's Charter of Privileges 50th anniversary. The Whitechapel Foundry's initial version cracked during testing, leading local founders Pass and Stow to recast it using a higher copper ratio for durability.

Highly recommend for both business and leisure travelers.

Staying at the Hilton Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing was a fantastic experience. The location is unbeatable—just a short walk from Independence Hall and all the historic charm of Old City. I loved how convenient it was to explore downtown Philly without needing a car. The hotel itself is modern, clean, and well-maintained, with friendly staff who went the extra mile. Staying at this hotel was a real highlight of my trip to Philadelphia! The location is fantastic—just a short walk from Rittenhouse Square and all the local charm. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, making every interaction feel warm and personal. The room was clean, spacious, and beautifully designed with modern touches that made it feel like home. While I have to be honest—the wine at the Art Bar wasn’t my favorite (I’ll just say it’s not for me), it didn’t take away from the overall experience. Everything else—from the comfort of the bed to the thoughtful amenities—was top-notch. If you're looking for a stylish, welcoming stay in the heart of Philly, this place definitely delivers.

Staying at The Warwick Hotel Rittenhouse Square was an absolutely wonderful experience. The location is perfect—just steps away from Rittenhouse Square and all the city's best attractions. Everyone on staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, making check-in and throughout our stay feel seamless. I especially appreciated the valet parking service; it was so convenient and well-managed, giving me peace of mind knowing my car was in good hands. The attention to detail and warm hospitality truly set this hotel apart. If you're visiting Philadelphia, this is definitely a top choice for comfort, convenience, and excellent service.

The property matched the photos exactly—no surprises at all. Check-in was quick and hassle-free, which made our arrival even more pleasant. While street parking is the only option, we managed to find a spot with just a bit of effort. There’s a nearby garage, but it’s not conveniently close, so we stuck with street parking throughout. Despite that, the location is great for exploring West Philadelphia on foot or via public transit. The quiet neighborhood and well-maintained space made our stay feel peaceful and comfortable. Overall, an excellent choice if you're looking for a clean, authentic local vibe without breaking the bank.

The experience at this property was extremely disappointing, especially the lack of communication and support from management. I had booked a room at the 728 Market Street location, but just one day before my trip, I received a call informing me that my reservation had been moved to the 15th Street branch due to a toilet malfunction—though I didn’t mind since it was closer to the convention center. Upon arriving in Philadelphia around 7 PM on the 13th, I made it to the 15th Street location by 8 PM only to find that the access code provided by the platform wouldn’t work. I tried calling and texting every available number listed on their website, including the staff member I’d spoken to earlier—no response whatsoever. With a major convention happening that week, every other hotel nearby was fully booked. I personally contacted at least 15 different properties in the area, but none had availability. I ended up spending the entire night outside, unable to secure a place to stay. It wasn’t until 3 AM the next morning that I finally received a new code via text message. I returned to the building at 5:30 AM, only to discover that the new code still didn’t work. After another delay, I was given a third code—which finally worked. The entire situation was completely unacceptable. There was no real emergency contact line, and there was zero assistance when I needed it most. How difficult is it to manage access codes for different doors? This kind of basic operational failure reflects poorly on the entire brand. I can’t believe guests are left stranded like this with no support.

A top-tier experience from start to finish.

I loved the comfortable bed and quiet ambiance, making it easy to relax after a long day exploring the city. The staff were friendly and helpful, always ready to assist without being intrusive. Staying at Homewood Suites by Hilton University City Philadelphia was an absolute pleasure. The location is unbeatable—just a short drive from Penn and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, making it perfect for both business and leisure travelers. The lobby on the third floor feels spacious and elegant, instantly setting a high-end tone. On-site valet parking is available (around $45 per night, $27 for daytime 1–6 hours), with no extra fees—tip is optional, which I appreciate. Housekeeping is excellent; rooms are cleaned daily with attention to detail. Breakfast is served in a lovely, relaxed setting. While the selection is modest, the waffles are absolutely delicious—worth waking up early for. Plus, there’s a great Chinese restaurant nearby called Jiangnan Fu, ideal for a quick dinner after a long day exploring. This hotel truly delivers comfort, convenience, and charm—all in one.

Staying at the Wyndham Philadelphia Historic District was an absolute delight.
