Later, through Google Translate, we overheard her speaking Ukrainian (or possibly to a supervisor) and learned the truth: the keys had actually been thrown into the trash by mistake, and someone had to dig through garbage to retrieve them. In disbelief and concerned about our disabled family member and elderly companions, we decided to cut our losses and book a nearby guesthouse instead—thankfully, we found rooms at a reasonable last-minute rate. Waiting outside in the cold for two hours with no real support, no timely response, and absolutely no accountability—it felt like being abandoned on the street. This experience is unacceptable, especially with vulnerable travelers involved.
