If I could give more than 10 stars, I would have absolutely done it here—this place was truly exceptional! Nestled in a luxurious neighborhood, the area feels safe and peaceful, while the villa itself is beautifully appointed with tasteful decor and stunning artwork throughout. It’s the perfect retreat if you’re looking for tranquility, security, discreet hospitality, indulgent experiences, great food, and just a little movement—all without being far from attractions, thanks to affordable Uber rides. We had the best breakfasts of our entire three-week trip across South Africa (and 11 different stays!), plus memorable lunches and dinners featuring creative, standout dishes and surprisingly affordable wines. On our final day, we treated ourselves to a duo relaxation massage—perfectly arranged and utterly blissful. We stayed in the Cliffside room: spacious, elegant, with a gorgeous bathroom, private terrace, and garden overlooking the cliff. We even climbed up to the top for breathtaking panoramic views—absolutely unforgettable. The main pool area, with its incredibly comfortable loungers, wrapped up the experience perfectly. The staff are incredibly kind and professional, striking the ideal balance between boutique hotel charm and private villa freedom—so you can unwind without feeling isolated or confined. If we ever return to Johannesburg, this will be our first choice without hesitation.

A special thanks to Kamo and Blessing in the lobby for their friendly welcome, and to Lovett, Roy, Melissa, Joyce, and the entire kitchen team at Nova Bistro for creating memorable meals. The spa staff truly made our four-day getaway unforgettable. This hotel exceeded all expectations and easily ranks as the best hotel experience we’ve ever had. Highly recommended for anyone seeking luxury, comfort, and genuine hospitality.

The room was incredibly comfortable and spotlessly clean—bed was perfect, not too soft or too firm, making for a great night's sleep. Located just minutes from the city center, it’s super convenient for getting around by train, and there are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. The staff were friendly and efficient during check-in, and the overall atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. I didn’t hear any noise disturbances at all. If I’m ever back in Johannesburg, this will be my top choice again. Highly recommend for travelers looking for comfort, cleanliness, and value.

The Raphael Suites is incredibly well-located in Johannesburg—just a short walk or quick metro ride from the city center, making it super convenient for exploring. While the property feels a bit dated in terms of furnishings and facilities, the overall cleanliness and comfort are solid. The main downside is that breakfast is served at a separate location, requiring a short walk to reach—slightly inconvenient but manageable. Still, considering the great location and value for money, this place is definitely worth staying at if you're looking for a central base without breaking the bank.
Muco Guest House
This was the fifth time during my trip that my flight was delayed on departure. Upon arrival, as usual, two men approached me asking if I needed a taxi. I explained I already had a pre-arranged ride, and they called the driver who confirmed he was on his way. Surprisingly, they then asked for payment for 'helping' me—quite unusual, but it happened. The guesthouse is located a bit outside the airport, within a gated complex. It was quite chilly this time of year, so Felix (the driver) kindly took me to a clothing store to pick up a flannel shirt—huge place, great selection. The property itself is impressive: spacious kitchen, large living area, and a well-sized bathroom. There are two pools and a communal meeting space at the office. Breakfast was homemade—fresh bread, cereal, and beverages—all very satisfying. Felix also arranged my tours, which I could charge directly to my room, making everything super convenient. If you head out from the main road, turn right onto the next major street, then left, go up two roads—you’ll find a gas station, restaurants, and shops nearby, so all essentials are close by. The safari tour I went on was about two hours away, but absolutely worth it—great experience! The heater only reached 30°C, and the fan wasn’t very strong, so the room warmed up slowly, but overall, it didn’t detract from the stay. Great location, friendly staff, and excellent value—highly recommend!

The room was immaculate, thoughtfully equipped, and offered a peaceful retreat. Breakfast was generous and diverse, catering to various tastes. The on-site restaurant delivered exceptional cuisine and featured an impressive wine selection. A special thank you to the team who opened the back gate daily, making our departure to Rosebank’s green heart so convenient. The pool, though cool, was a welcome refreshment after a long day. Even with minor renovations underway, there was zero disruption to our comfort or experience. The ambiance was calm and inviting, and the location offered easy access to local attractions. This hotel truly stands out for its service, cleanliness, and attention to detail. We’ll definitely be back.

The term 'executive' doesn't reflect the actual service or professionalism one would expect—this place felt more like a high-security facility than a hotel. Even having a drink in your room triggered constant attention from security staff, making it feel oppressive and unwelcoming. The location is decent and close to public transit, but the overall atmosphere and treatment of guests were far from comfortable or respectful. I wouldn’t recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing stay. Avoid at all costs.
