That’s when I decided to check out The Cottage, which I’d been researching online. To my surprise, booking directly on-site was actually cheaper than the rates listed elsewhere. The Cottage is part of a hotel chain sharing the same building with Subash Lodge, and there’s even a residential apartment on the top floor. But what sets it apart is the consistent, homely design throughout—the whole building feels unified and welcoming, like staying in a cozy family home. One of the biggest highlights? A central garden—a rare gem for this price range in Mumbai. Every floor has balconies surrounding the green space, creating a peaceful, airy atmosphere. The rooms aren’t huge, but they’re clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed with a vintage charm that I personally prefer over flashy modern styles. The manager and staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. They offer laundry service, and the area feels safe and well-maintained. There are countless cafes, restaurants, and shops nearby—perfect for foodies and shopaholics alike. The metro line is just steps away, and there are several lovely parks and quiet lanes ideal for evening walks. I genuinely miss this place already and can’t wait to come back.

I was really disappointed with this property. I booked online through a platform, but upon arrival, the manager refused to honor my reservation and demanded an exorbitant price to stay. I had no choice but to cancel and pay extra fees—there was simply no time to search for alternative nearby hotels. The condition of the hotel is terrible: the fans don’t work, the AC is broken, and I even found centipedes in the bathroom. There were also numerous bedbugs in the room—completely unacceptable. I checked previous reviews here, but most are from 2018; the current state is far worse than what’s described. Breakfast is no longer provided, and maintenance seems completely neglected. If you're considering booking here, please be extremely cautious—this place is not worth it.
