Richmond Hotel Tokyo Mejiro

Staying at this hotel was a great choice, especially for the timing of events. Located just a short walk from Mejiro Station on the JR Yamanote Line, it’s super convenient—just exit left and you’re there. I’ve stayed in other hotels near Roppongi before, but they close early on New Year’s Eve when the subway stops running. This one, however, is right on the Yamanote Line, which runs all night during the holiday period—perfect for catching a late-night concert like Ayumi Hamasaki’s New Year show. Plus, they handed out a welcome drink voucher upon check-in, redeemable at the second-floor café for a wide variety of beverages—coffee, tea, juice, you name it. The selection was better than expected! Clean rooms, friendly staff, and excellent value for money. If you're visiting Tokyo around New Year’s or need reliable access to the city’s transit network, this hotel is definitely worth considering.

Sotetsu Fresa Inn Higashi Shinjuku

Staying at Sotetsu Fresa Inn Higashi Shinjuku was a real highlight of my trip to Tokyo. The hotel is literally steps away from Higashi Shinjuku Station, making commuting super convenient. Right outside the door, there's a convenience store—perfect for late-night snacks or essentials. I appreciated the complimentary self-service amenities; everything I needed was available and well-stocked. The sleepwear was especially cozy and comfortable—so much so that I actually wanted to take it home! There’s also a vending machine and an ice maker on each floor, which came in handy during my stay. The only minor note: the room lighting is a bit dim, but it’s not an issue when you’re trying to sleep. What truly stood out was the care I received when I unexpectedly fell ill during my visit. The night staff went above and beyond with kind support and assistance—I’ll never forget how thoughtful they were. This place isn’t just about location and comfort; it’s about genuine hospitality. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Tokyo.

Smile Hotel Sugamo

Staying at Smile Hotel Sugamo was a fantastic experience! The room is small but spotlessly clean with no unpleasant odors—just what you want after a long day of exploring. Right outside the door, there's a FamilyMart, and just a quick turn down the street leads to a 24-hour duty-free store—perfect for last-minute snacks or souvenirs. It’s only a 2-minute walk to Sugamo Station, making public transit super convenient. I took the train to Narita Airport easily, and the route was straightforward and stress-free. Plus, just a 2-minute stroll away is a great spot called Torikizoku—super tasty food that made my trip even better. I’d definitely come back here again. Excellent value, great location, and such a welcoming vibe!

Via Inn Shinjuku

Staying at VIA INN Shinjuku for the first time was a refreshing experience—truly different from other chains I’ve tried in Japan. The room is small, but it truly lives up to the saying ‘small but perfectly formed.’ Everything was spotlessly clean, and toiletries are available at the front desk upon request—eco-friendly and convenient. Though the bathroom is compact, it has a bathtub, shower, and a smart toilet with all the essentials. The smart TV supports screen mirroring and comes with popular apps like YouTube and Netflix—perfect for relaxing after a long day. The bedding was incredibly comfortable, and I really enjoyed the bath and hair products. The shampoo, in particular, didn’t leave my hair greasy afterward—it left it soft and smooth, especially when paired with the Panasonic hairdryer provided. Breakfast was a highlight, featuring authentic Japanese dishes that brought a cozy, local feel to the morning. But what stood out most was the staff—the Japanese front desk team were exceptionally friendly and attentive, some of the best service I’ve experienced anywhere. Located right in the heart of Shibuya, you’re just steps away from vibrant nightlife and easy access to subway lines—no need to worry about missing out on Tokyo’s electric energy. I’ll definitely be back.

Hotel Grand City

Absolutely fantastic stay at Hotel Grand City! Located right in the heart of Ikebukuro, it's incredibly convenient for exploring the area. What really stood out was the complimentary drinks in the evening, including beer and soft drinks, which added a nice touch to our stay. The staff at the front desk were incredibly friendly and helpful, making check-out a breeze with no delays. Located just a 7-10 minute walk from Ikebukuro Station’s north exit, the hotel is perfectly positioned for easy access to public transport. What really stood out was the breakfast buffet with unlimited rice dishes; it was hearty, delicious, and perfect for starting the day right. The room was clean, cozy, and well-maintained, giving that homely yet modern feel. Centurion Hotel Ikebukuro Station

Staying at Centurion Hotel Ikebukuro Station was an absolute delight. The location is unbeatable—just a 5-minute walk from Ikebukuro Station, with convenience stores like Seven-Eleven right on the ground floor. Along the way to the station, you’ll pass Big Camera, McDonald’s, and Parco, making it super easy to grab food, shop, or just wander around. The room isn’t huge, but it’s surprisingly functional—easily fits two large suitcases without any hassle. One quirky detail I absolutely loved? The hotel keycard drop box is tucked inside the bathroom! It caught me off guard at first, but it’s such a clever and fun touch. And don’t miss the live piano music in the lobby—it adds a warm, welcoming vibe that makes the whole experience feel more special. With its excellent location, thoughtful design, and relaxing atmosphere, this hotel offers fantastic value. I’d definitely stay here again on my next trip to Tokyo.

The hotel itself is spotless and well-maintained, creating a clean and welcoming atmosphere. The room size is just right for two people—neither too cramped nor too spacious. Considering the prime location and affordable rate, the value for money is outstanding. One standout feature is the free luggage storage after check-out, which made our day much easier when we had time to explore more before heading home. Tokyu Stay Shinjuku

Staying at Tokyu Stay Shinjuku was an absolute delight from start to finish. The front desk staff greeted me warmly and efficiently, setting a great tone right away. The room itself is spacious, bright, and immaculately clean—every detail feels thoughtfully designed. The large TV with 4K channels delivers stunning picture quality, making it perfect for relaxing evenings. The shower system is top-notch—strong water pressure and excellent temperature control. The air conditioning paired with an effective air purifier keeps the room fresh and comfortable; I especially appreciated being able to open the window for natural ventilation when desired. Practical touches like the in-room washer and microwave made my stay even more convenient. I also loved the complimentary coffee machine in the lobby—starting the day with a fresh brew was pure bliss. There’s a helpful staff member from Shanghai who handles everything with professionalism and care. Getting here is super easy: exit JR Shinjuku Station from the East Square entrance, walk toward Isetan, and once you see the LV boutique, you’re just about 100 meters away. Take the Toei Subway to Shinjuku-sanchome, exiting through either C3 or C4—the closest access points. Everything you need—from dining and shopping to essentials—is within walking distance, including a 7-Eleven right downstairs. This hotel offers unbeatable convenience and comfort. Hotel Wing International Ikebukuro

Staying at Hotel Wing International Ikebukuro was an absolute delight! The location is unbeatable—right in the heart of Ikebukuro, with easy access to subway lines and countless restaurants, shops, and attractions just steps away. The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making check-in and any inquiries a breeze. I’ll admit, Japanese rooms are typically small, but this one worked perfectly for me—plenty of space to unpack two 28-inch suitcases, and since I spent most of my time exploring Tokyo, I didn’t need much time inside the room anyway. The hotel itself felt clean, well-maintained, and had a subtle, pleasant scent that added to the overall comfort. It’s a great balance of convenience, cleanliness, and value. If I ever return to Tokyo, I’d definitely consider staying here again—highly recommend it for travelers who want a reliable, central base in the city.
