Muco Guest House
This was the fifth time during my trip that my flight was delayed on departure. Upon arrival, as usual, two men approached me asking if I needed a taxi. I explained I already had a pre-arranged ride, and they called the driver who confirmed he was on his way. Surprisingly, they then asked for payment for 'helping' me—quite unusual, but it happened. The guesthouse is located a bit outside the airport, within a gated complex. It was quite chilly this time of year, so Felix (the driver) kindly took me to a clothing store to pick up a flannel shirt—huge place, great selection. The property itself is impressive: spacious kitchen, large living area, and a well-sized bathroom. There are two pools and a communal meeting space at the office. Breakfast was homemade—fresh bread, cereal, and beverages—all very satisfying. Felix also arranged my tours, which I could charge directly to my room, making everything super convenient. If you head out from the main road, turn right onto the next major street, then left, go up two roads—you’ll find a gas station, restaurants, and shops nearby, so all essentials are close by. The safari tour I went on was about two hours away, but absolutely worth it—great experience! The heater only reached 30°C, and the fan wasn’t very strong, so the room warmed up slowly, but overall, it didn’t detract from the stay. Great location, friendly staff, and excellent value—highly recommend!

Absolutely thrilled with my stay at Sandton Farmhouse! Nestled just outside Johannesburg, it’s the perfect blend of tranquility and convenience. The moment I walked in, I felt like I was escaping to a peaceful countryside retreat—quiet, clean, and beautifully designed. My room was spacious, cozy, and had everything I needed, including a small kitchenette which made self-catering super easy. The staff went above and beyond—friendly, attentive, and always ready to help. Even though it’s a bit off the beaten path, getting into the city center via public transit took less than 30 minutes. It’s rare to find such a peaceful yet well-connected place. For the price, this is an unbeatable value. 10/10 without hesitation—I’ll definitely be back!

Even having a drink in your room triggered constant attention from security staff, making it feel oppressive and unwelcoming. The location is decent and close to public transit, but the overall atmosphere and treatment of guests were far from comfortable or respectful. I wouldn’t recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing stay. Avoid at all costs.

I stayed at The Monarch Hotel throughout July and honestly couldn’t bring myself to leave. From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere felt elegant yet intimate—effortlessly classy in every way. It’s truly one of the finest hotels in Johannesburg. The team made me feel right at home from day one. A huge thank you to Suhayl, Bongani, Siya, Frank, Nthando, Blessing, and everyone else on staff—you all played a part in making my stay unforgettable. The rooms are beautiful, the hospitality warm and personal, and there’s a quiet charm here that’s hard to find anywhere else. I’m already counting down the days until my next visit.

Cleanliness stood out too—everything was spotless, from the linens to the bathroom, no musty smells or grime. What really impressed us was the quiet atmosphere. Despite being close to the city center, the property is peaceful and well-insulated from street noise, making it perfect for a restful night's sleep.
