The value for money here is outstanding—definitely worth booking in advance to secure a room. The overall experience was excellent: the hotel is clean, the breakfast is delicious with great variety, and the staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. While the immediate neighborhood isn’t the most polished, it’s super convenient for getting into the city center—just a short walk to the bus stop where Line 25 runs directly downtown. There’s also a small but functional gym on-site, perfect for a quick workout. Despite a few minor drawbacks, the positives far outweigh them. This place offers comfort, convenience, and charm at an unbeatable price. I’d definitely stay again.

From the moment you arrive, you’re welcomed with Prosecco and local nibbles, setting the tone for an unforgettable experience. The staff, Pier Francesco and Maria Cristina, whose family has owned the palazzo for over 200 years, make you feel truly at home with their warm, personal hospitality. Rooms are elegantly furnished with timeless style, and breakfast is served in a grand salon around a large communal table, fostering genuine connection among guests. I particularly loved the exquisite selection of local cheeses—though as a vegetarian, I appreciated the thoughtful alternative of frittata and truffle bruschetta. Location couldn’t be better: Piazza Maggiore, Piazza Nettuno, major museums, churches, the opera house, and countless excellent restaurants are all within a 5-minute walk. Pier Francesco is always happy to share his passion for Bologna, offering charming insights into hidden gems worth exploring. The highlight? A private concert in the palace’s grand salon featuring a soprano, baritone, and pianist performing Italian opera arias at an exceptional level—complete with more Prosecco and finger food. While we’re cautious with the term 'hidden gem,' this is exactly where it fits. A rare blend of history, luxury, and heartfelt service that leaves a lasting impression.

Even though it’s a 30-minute bus ride from downtown Bologna, the bus stop is just steps away—making transit super convenient. I’d definitely come back if I’m visiting Bologna again.

The location is unbeatable, yet the price is refreshingly fair for such a prime spot. Inside, the rooms are clean, well-appointed, and professionally maintained daily. Breakfast is served at a cozy café just around the corner—four different options to choose from, all hearty and satisfying, especially considering how much you’d pay elsewhere for something similar. But what truly sets this place apart is the personal touch. The staff—Filippo, Massimo, and Tatiana—go above and beyond with genuine care and attention. Any issue is resolved quickly, even if it’s outside standard services. Tatiana, being a native Russian speaker, made the experience feel extra special and welcoming in a country where Russian isn’t commonly spoken. It’s clear they genuinely want guests to relax and focus on enjoying their time, not worrying about details. This hotel isn’t just a stay—it’s a warm, thoughtful experience. I’ll definitely be back.

The shared kitchen is fully equipped—perfect for brewing coffee, making tea, or whipping up a quick meal. Every day, two bottles of water were kindly left in the room, which was a thoughtful touch. The view from the windows was breathtaking—serene and picturesque. I loved the authentic atmosphere and the quiet charm of the place. It’s a hidden gem with great value, and I’d definitely return. Easy access to public transit makes exploring the city a breeze.

Even though it's a bit of a walk from the train station, its prime location right next to Piazza Maggiore makes exploring central Bologna incredibly convenient. The rooms are spacious and well-designed—beds are comfortable, and the shower area is generous. There are four separate locks in the unit, which gives excellent security feel. On our last day, they even let us leave our suitcases until late afternoon—huge help when you're not quite ready to check out. The only thing to note is that there’s no front desk, so checking in requires prior email coordination for timing. But overall, this is a fantastic stay with great value, excellent location, and a homey touch that really makes the experience stand out.
Hotel Novecento
Staying at Hotel Novecento in Bologna was an absolute delight from start to finish. The location is perfect—just a short 5-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore and close to major shopping streets like Vía Farini. While it takes about 20 minutes to walk from Bologna Centrale Station, the route is straightforward and mostly covered by sheltered walkways along Vía Galliera, making it pleasant even on rainy days. Once you reach Galileo Galilei Square, the hotel is clearly visible at the far end. I stayed in a Single Deluxe room (Room 105), and what stood out immediately was how spacious and thoughtfully designed it felt. Unlike many single rooms that feel cramped against a wall, my bed was placed right in the center of the room—open, airy, and surprisingly cozy. The mattress was incredibly comfortable; I actually considered taking it home with me! It was paired with a light, fresh duvet that made for a restful night’s sleep. The room had plenty of space—no tripping over furniture—and came with a large wardrobe, a plush armchair, a huge TV, and a stylish console below housing a safe, mini-bar, and Nespresso coffee machine with a few capsules, milk packs, and abundant tea options. The window faces the back of the building, so noise from the street is completely blocked—perfect for a peaceful stay. When I arrived, the room was already at a cool 21°C, and the AC can be adjusted as needed. The bathroom features a powerful built-in shower and all the premium amenities you’d expect from a four-star property, including a robe and slippers. Breakfast is served from 7 AM downstairs and is truly exceptional. The sweet section offers cakes, cookies, local pastries, cornettos, and toast options, while the savory side includes cured meats, cheeses (Parmigiano and Pecorino included), avocado toast, smoked salmon, roasted peppers, hard-boiled eggs, and a fresh salad bar. Fresh fruit, cereals, and yogurt are also available. If you’re still hungry, the kitchen will happily prepare freshly squeezed orange juice, mixed fruit juices, or eggs any way you like—scrambled, fried, or poached. And don’t miss the afternoon snack corner, open from 11 AM, offering free coffee, cookies, and light bites. While lunch and dinner aren’t served on-site, Bologna is full of excellent dining options just around the corner—no need to worry. One standout moment was meeting Daniele, the front desk staff. He was warm, attentive, and went above and beyond: not only did he assist with check-in and offer to store my luggage before the room was ready, but his genuine hospitality made the entire experience feel personal and welcoming. This boutique hotel blends charm, comfort, and attention to detail perfectly—highly recommend for travelers seeking a memorable stay in Bologna.
