Don’t let the name Royal Mint fool you—this 18th-century fortress-like building is now a cultural gem! Once the nation’s money-making heart, it now houses historical artifacts and national treasures. Wander through its grand halls and imagine the clink of coins, the weight of power, and the legacy of a country shaped by gold and vision.

Everything you need to know about Casa de Moneda
Hotel Casa de la Moneda is a top choice, located just steps from the Royal Mint. Housed in a restored colonial building, it blends historical architecture with modern luxury. Rooms offer views of the historic mint façade, and the property features an art gallery and café serving premium Colombian coffee. Ideal for travelers seeking culture and comfort in the heart of Bogotá's historic district.
Near the Royal Mint, head to Plaza de Bolívar for authentic flavors. Try Ajiaco, a rich traditional soup made with potatoes, chicken, corn, and cream—served with a side of capers and avocado. For a cultural twist, visit Café del Arte, which combines locally roasted Colombian specialty coffee with rotating exhibitions of national artists, creating a vibrant atmosphere perfect for relaxation after exploring the site.
The Royal Mint is centrally located near Plaza de Bolívar, accessible within 5 minutes on foot. Take bus lines 201 or 202 to the "Bolívar" stop, or use the TransMilenio system and transfer at the "Plaza de Bolívar" station. Alternatively, rent a bike via Rappi Bike or use ride-sharing apps like Uber or DiDi, both offering convenient access through narrow, traffic-congested streets.
Yes! The Bogotá Historical Museum inside the Royal Mint complex offers interactive exhibits on colonial-era finance and coin-making—perfect for kids. Every Saturday afternoon, the Plaza de Bolívar hosts a lively cultural market featuring folk dance performances, artisan crafts, and live music. Safe walking paths and shaded benches make it ideal for families to enjoy together in a historic urban setting.
Immerse yourself in history with guided colonial lifestyle workshops nearby, including parchment writing, antique stamp crafting, and traditional costume dressing. On Wednesdays, join the night walking tour through Old Bogotá’s cobbled streets, illuminated by lanterns and narrated with stories of 18th-century mint operations—offering a magical blend of heritage and storytelling.
Hotel Casa de la Moneda provides limited underground parking with advance reservation, costing $25 per day. However, due to narrow streets and strict traffic rules, parking is challenging. Most boutique hotels don’t offer free parking. Instead, opt for ride-sharing services like Uber or DiDi, or use electric scooters via Rappi Bike—ideal for navigating the compact, pedestrian-friendly historic zone.

Absolutely loved my stay at this incredible hotel! Located right in the heart of Candelaria, it's super convenient for exploring Bogotá's vibrant neighborhoods. The photos are heavily edited—way too much retouching. The actual hotel is far from what it looks like online. It feels neglected and dirty, with stained walls, hard and old mattresses, worn-out linens, and the hot water never worked during our stay. We were relieved to check out and honestly, just thinking about returning made us feel uneasy. The entire experience was unpleasant and disappointing. For the price, this place offers nothing in return—definitely not worth it.

We only stayed one night, but the experience was absolutely fantastic! The room was incredibly comfortable and spotlessly clean, with a dreamy bed that made for a restful sleep. The host was warm and welcoming, going above and beyond to make us feel at home. Breakfast was delicious—fresh, well-prepared, and full of flavor. Even better? They welcome pets, which made our trip so much more convenient and stress-free. The location is quiet yet perfectly positioned near public transit and local attractions. We walked to nearby cafes and shops in minutes. It’s rare to find such a cozy, well-maintained place with genuine hospitality. I’d definitely come back and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bogotá.

This hotel offers great value for money with a comfortable, clean, and quiet atmosphere in a convenient location. I really enjoyed the breakfast—fresh and satisfying, with local flavors that added a nice touch. The only minor drawbacks were the cold marble reception counter and occasional Wi-Fi issues, but these didn’t ruin the overall experience. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was spotless and well-maintained. It’s clear the place is well-run, and for the price, it’s hard to beat. If you’re looking for a peaceful stay in Bogotá without breaking the bank, this is definitely a solid choice. I’d happily stay here again.

Staying at Hotel Ecoferia Boutique for four nights was a solid choice, especially given the great value and convenient location just a short Uber ride from all of Bogotá’s main attractions. The room was spacious enough for our needs, though it wasn’t fully soundproof—on a couple of occasions, we could hear TV noise and conversations spilling in from the shared lounge area. That said, the TV would typically turn off around 11 PM, and the chatter would wind down shortly after, so it didn’t disrupt sleep too much. The Wi-Fi was impressively fast, and the staff were consistently friendly and helpful. Overall, a comfortable stay with a few minor trade-offs that didn’t detract from the experience.
