Even though I only stayed one night, the hotel exceeded expectations in terms of comfort and amenities. I stayed at Hotel California City in Medellín, and unfortunately the experience didn't meet expectations. While the facilities looked decent on paper, the actual service was average, and the room amenities were extremely lacking. Upon arrival, I noticed the bed only had a mattress sheet—no extra blanket or cover—and the towel was visibly dirty with hair strands. I requested an additional sheet, but it never arrived. To make matters worse, there was no shampoo provided. The room itself wasn’t well-maintained, which was disappointing. If you're looking for a hotel with a pool, this isn’t the place—go elsewhere. Overall, the value for money wasn’t worth it, and I wouldn’t recommend it to others.

We stayed here to celebrate our anniversary and were absolutely delighted with the experience. The hotel went above and beyond by arranging a surprise decoration for my husband—such a thoughtful touch that truly made the occasion special. The room itself is beautifully designed, cozy, and well-maintained. One small note: the shower setup isn’t very comfortable for women, so it might be worth reconsidering for future improvements. The front desk staff who worked early morning were incredibly attentive and genuinely went out of their way to help us—we felt truly welcomed. Our favorite part was definitely the rooftop area. We enjoyed both lunch and dinner there, and the food was delicious, with a great atmosphere perfect for a romantic evening. That said, the breakfast could use more variety—both in quantity and flavor. It felt a bit lacking compared to the rest of the experience. Overall, though, this place offers excellent value, fantastic service, and a memorable stay. I’d happily come back and recommend it to friends.

Highly recommend for anyone visiting the city!
Hostal Pura Vida la 70
Staying at this hostel in Medellín was a disappointing experience overall. While the location is convenient and close to the city center, the room itself was far from satisfactory. The air had a musty smell, and the space felt dirty despite the clean appearance of the common areas. There was no air conditioning, which made it unbearable during the hot nights. The shower faucet was loose and required fixing just to turn on—very inconvenient. Noise was another major issue; music and loud conversations continued until 4 a.m., making it impossible to sleep. I stayed for two nights and paid $170, which felt completely unjustified given what was offered. The staff were polite and helpful at reception, but that didn’t make up for the poor quality of the room and lack of basic amenities like breakfast. I’ve stayed in many hostels across Colombia, big and small, and this one ranks among the worst. For the price and condition, I’d definitely not recommend it—especially if you’re looking for a peaceful place to rest.
