After staying two nights in Haikou Bay, a friend recommended we switch to Dadonghai for New Year’s Eve. After doing a quick online search, I found that Pearl River Garden Hotel kept coming up as a top pick—so we decided to give it a try. Before check-in, the lovely concierge Jasmine reached out to us personally. At the time, only two rooms were available, so she arranged us on different floors. She escorted us straight to our room after check-in and even left fresh fruit and a mini bar—such thoughtful touches! The hotel is literally steps from the beach, making it incredibly convenient, though being in the city center means rooms aren’t huge. That said, the location more than makes up for it. On New Year’s Eve, the ground floor was packed with live music and dancing—super lively! But if you’re traveling with kids, I’d suggest avoiding sea-view rooms since it can get noisy. Rooms facing the opposite side are much quieter. Jasmine stayed on top of things throughout our stay—she mentioned she’d contact the manager to speak with nearby beach vendors if the noise became an issue, which showed how genuinely attentive she was. Breakfast was outstanding, especially the Luoma Hainan rice noodles—everyone in our group agreed it was delicious. We made a beeline for that spot every morning. On arrival day, there was a free sugar cane candy event in the lobby, and Jasmine even sent us photos taken by the in-house photographer. One highlight we absolutely couldn’t miss was the hotel’s “Papai Box” photo experience. We booked in advance, and the photographer at the 9th-floor infinity pool was fantastic. He didn’t make us pose stiffly—he guided the kids naturally, capturing genuine moments and emotions. As someone who hates formal photos, this was a game-changer. My kids looked relaxed and happy, not forced at all. I highly recommend booking this service upon arrival. Once scheduled, the photographer contacts you directly with details and reminders. It’s such a seamless, thoughtful process. If you want unforgettable memories without the stress of posing, this is the way to go.

Getting around was easy—taxis were always available, and the on-site food street, Niji Night Market, buzzed with energy, offering everything from local snacks to fresh fruit. Dining options across the property were impressive: the Thai restaurant delivered great value at about $100 per person, while other eateries were affordable and satisfying. For entertainment, there’s a cinema, a quiet bookstore, and rotating art exhibitions—perfect for all ages. Extra touches like a convenience store, pharmacy, and complimentary stroller rentals made life super convenient. After a full day of exploring, we stopped by Tuicui for afternoon tea—delicate pastries with elegant designs and delicious flavors that made the perfect pick-me-up. And kudos to Wang Jingjing at reception—her kindness, patience, and helpfulness truly stood out. This place feels grand yet welcoming. I’ll definitely be back.

I've visited this hotel for work before and really liked it, so I deliberately chose to stay here again for a few days—definitely worth it! I was worried about the marina location causing noise in the mornings, but surprisingly, the balcony doors have excellent soundproofing; absolutely no disturbance at all. I booked a family room, which was spacious and incredibly comfortable. The shower area is generous, making for a relaxing bath. From the balcony, you can see the Luhuitou Scenic Area across the water, and it's just a short walk to the duty-free shop and the First Market Night Market. No gimmicks, just honest quality. I’ve already recommended this place to friends and will definitely be back.
