My room on the 9th floor had an incredible view of the Oriental Pearl Tower, with plenty of space—perfect for my baby and me. We even ordered takeout and enjoyed a relaxed meal. The bathroom water pressure was outstanding—felt like a spa treatment. I’d been concerned about noise from the bathroom near the bed, but slept soundly both nights, so no worries there. The real game-changer came later: my airport transfer driver was running late, and I was panicking about missing my flight. I messaged Marry on WeChat (even though it was outside her working hours), and she quickly helped coordinate with the driver. Thanks to her quick action, I made it to the airport on time—truly a lifesaver. Also want to thank Manager Barbara and the tall 6-foot-2 server at the restaurant for their excellent service, as well as the friendly doorman in glasses who worked late shift. I’ve been passing by this building since my high school days across the street, watching the Ritz-Carlton shine in its prime. Now, with a Pudong voucher in hand, I made it here just before the renovation began—catching the last ride on this legacy property. I booked an Executive Room and asked for a west-facing view; the front desk was incredibly thoughtful, arranging a room on the 37th floor. The room itself is well-maintained. While there wasn’t originally a power outlet at the bedside, they’ve since added a built-in universal socket to the nightstand—very convenient. The mini-bar isn’t free, but at least it’s stocked, which feels more welcoming than an empty shelf. The bathtub was spotless, and the Bvlgari amenities had a subtle, pleasant scent. The bedding? Absolutely dreamy—soft, supportive, and perfect for a deep sleep. The ergonomic chair lives up to its reputation—it’s comfortable, though not mind-blowing. The view from the window is spectacular: sweeping from Houhai all the way to Lujiazui, especially stunning at sunset. The indoor pool maintains a consistently warm temperature, making swimming enjoyable even during cold, windy weather. The gym is fully equipped and well-kept. However, the Executive Lounge on the 40th floor is closed, so welcome hours are now only available in the lobby, and breakfast is served in a shared area rather than a dedicated space. The food selection isn’t extensive, but it’s varied enough and of good quality. Yes, the hotel’s infrastructure shows age, but the service is where it truly shines. Staff are courteous, confident, and carry a calm professionalism that only comes with experience—not your typical rookie energy. It’s clear they care about guest experience.
