Staying at Shangri-La Guilin was an absolutely unforgettable experience. Our guest host Emily went above and beyond—she reached out in advance to learn about our preferences and even prepared thoughtful little amenities for our child. The housekeeping staff, Jongche, was incredibly attentive, personally escorting us to our room and giving a detailed walk-through of the hotel’s facilities with genuine warmth. The room itself beautifully blends modern comfort with traditional northern Guangxi charm—our bed was so cozy we slept like babies all night. But the real highlight? The evening view: as dusk fell, the river lights gently lit up the scene outside our window, turning the Li River into a shimmering canvas. Absolutely breathtaking. Breakfast was fantastic—wide variety, delicious quality—and the local beer fish at the Chinese restaurant was authentic and mouthwatering. Pool attendant Tang Jundong was patient and welcoming, guiding us straight to the pool area with a smile. Every touch felt personal, every service thoughtful. The lobby served complimentary loquat tea, a local favorite, and the breakfast buffet was fantastic—varied, fresh, and well-prepared with both Western and Chinese options. Perfect for fueling up before heading out to explore nearby attractions like Li River and Elephant Trunk Hill. While there’s no full-length mirror or extendable makeup mirror in the room, this minor detail didn’t detract from the overall experience. The location is unbeatable—everything is within walking distance, and there are countless restaurants just steps away. No need to rush through sightseeing; the hotel is steps from Elephant Trunk Hill, and everything else is within easy reach. Absolutely stunning! I couldn’t believe how affordable it was to stay at a near-five-star hotel right on the banks of the Li River—just a fraction of what you’d expect. The location is unbeatable: walking distance to everything, from the Liberation Bridge and Xiao Yao Tower, through the historic West-East Alley and the Ming Dynasty’s Jingjiang Prince’s Palace, all the way to Elephant Trunk Hill just 500 meters away. The entire city center is so conveniently packed into one area that you could easily spend two extra nights exploring without feeling rushed. The parking lot behind the hotel is spacious and even has EV charging stations—perfect for electric car travelers. Across the street is Fubo Mountain Park, home to the famous Huanzhu Cave with ancient inscriptions carved by poets and scholars. It’s such a peaceful, scenic spot for photos and soaking in the natural beauty of karst landscapes. And with so many great restaurants and local flavors nearby, this place truly delivers on comfort, convenience, and authenticity. One of the best stays I’ve had in Guilin.
