We stayed at Broadway Mansions Hotel to celebrate my mother’s 90th birthday—her 90th year in the lunar calendar, a milestone we wanted to mark with something meaningful. Instead of going to Sanya for winter sun this year, we chose this iconic Shanghai landmark to reconnect with the city’s timeless charm. From start to finish, the service was exceptional. Special thanks to Manager Shen and Front Desk Manager Huang for their thoughtful arrangements and warm attention throughout our visit. Every department—from concierge to room service and dining—was attentive, courteous, and genuinely caring. The breakfast on the second floor offered a fantastic mix of Chinese and Western options, and on weekends, it even runs until 10:30, perfect for guests who like to take their time. The afternoon tea on the 14th floor was simply delightful—elegant pastries paired with excellent coffee, and in the evening, the happy hour brought unexpected treats like smoked salmon and savory meat skewers, which were a real highlight. The room itself wasn’t flashy, but it was cozy, clean, and well-designed. What truly stood out? The view. From the window, you can witness the sunrise over the Bund, enjoy golden-hour reflections on the Suzhou River, and catch glimpses of historic buildings—the old Russian Consulate and the former foreign trade association site at The Bund's Origins. Standing there, it felt like time had paused just for a moment. It stirred deep emotions and reminded me how much has changed—and how much remains beautiful. This stay wasn’t just a visit; it was a memory in the making. I’ll definitely return.

Jin Jiang Hotel

Staying at Jin Jiang Hotel was an absolute delight—this truly is a century-old institution with character and charm. The room exuded that classic 'old cadre' elegance, with refined details that made me feel like I'd stepped into history. Breakfast was outstanding—rich in traditional Chinese dim sum, especially the noodle toppings: mushroom, preserved mustard greens, scrambled eggs with tomatoes, and over ten other varieties—all fresh and flavorful. For those sensitive to caffeine, there were plenty of tea options to choose from, which was thoughtful and appreciated. But the real highlight? The famous Jinjiang Peking Duck. The skin turns a perfect amber hue, crisp yet not greasy, served with a house-made dipping sauce that elevates every bite. The scallions are plump, juicy, and sweet—perfect for cutting through the richness. Service was exceptional too. The concierge greeted me warmly and even offered a vintage-style luggage cart to transport me from the VIP Pavilion to Jinbei Building—a small touch, but it added so much character to the experience. Located on the site of the original 1926-era Cathay Apartments (the same owner as Peace Hotel), the building’s white architectural lines remain strikingly elegant. Since its founding by Ms. Dong Zhujun in 1951, the hotel has welcomed hundreds of heads of state from over 20 countries worldwide—earning its reputation as China’s premier guesthouse for international dignitaries. The garden is spacious and serene, with a stunning lawn that feels like a private oasis. Cleanliness is top-notch, and the blend of timeless heritage with modern comfort makes this stay unforgettable. If you’re looking for authenticity, quality, and a bit of legacy, this place delivers—highly recommended.

This is our third time staying at this hotel, and every visit has been outstanding. The room was spotless and beautifully decorated with a calming, elegant vibe. What really stood out was the heated toilet seat—such a small detail that made bathroom use incredibly comfortable and luxurious. The location is unbeatable: right across from the Postal Museum, just a 15-minute walk to Peace Hotel and the Bund, and super close to the Shiliupu Pier for evening Yangtze River cruises. My son said he always wants to stay here whenever we visit Shanghai—it feels like coming home. There’s a genuine sense of warmth and hospitality that makes you feel truly welcomed. A top-tier choice for both convenience and comfort.

ZHotel The Somekh Building

This little gem of a hotel is perfectly located—just a short walk to the Bund and all the lively atmosphere of the local markets. The interior design is a beautiful blend of old-world charm and modern flair, with stylish touches throughout. Opening the curtains each morning revealed stunning views of two of the famous Three Towers, which made every stay feel special. On check-out, we were pleasantly surprised with a thoughtful gift from the front desk—such a nice touch! We only noticed later in the listing that they also offer late-night porridge, but sadly we didn’t get one (maybe we just forgot to ask?). Still, this didn’t take away from the overall amazing experience. The staff were friendly, the rooms clean and well-appointed, and the location couldn’t be better. Definitely worth staying again if I’m back in Shanghai.
