To my shock, the room I had reserved wasn’t available at all, which made me question the entire booking process. When I brought this up, I received no clear explanation—instead, I was offered an alternative room at $75 extra, well beyond my original budget. Parking was another major issue: the hotel advertised free parking, but I was directed to park on a street with clear '2 Hour Parking Only' signs. My car got towed, costing me $100 in towing fees plus $35 per 12-hour storage charge—a total nightmare. The room itself was poorly maintained—dirty sheets, stained couch, grimy floors, and a heater that didn’t work. There was no functioning front desk, no 24-hour service, and no complimentary amenities as expected. The restaurant on the first floor was equally bad—slow service and uninspired food. Overall, the experience was far below what was promised. I strongly advise checking reviews carefully before booking. This property needs serious improvement—and I’ve already reported unsafe conditions to the local health department.

I love that the dorm rooms come with free Wi-Fi and air conditioning (private rooms are available too), and the staff are genuinely warm and laid-back. There’s always a mix of interesting travelers around—great conversations to be had, no matter where you’re from. Plus, everything you could want—restaurants, bars, shops, live music—is literally steps away. Walkable, vibrant, and consistently enjoyable. This place never disappoints and has become one of my top hostels in the U.S.
