As a local resident of the charming Santa Teresa neighborhood, I can truly say Vila Santa Teresa is a peaceful retreat right in the heart of Rio's bustling city life. From the moment I arrived, the entire team made me feel right at home—warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. A special thanks to Caio, the morning waiter, and manager Raphael, who went above and beyond with their kindness and professionalism. The ambiance is serene, the service exceptional, and the location is perfect for exploring the city. This isn’t just a hotel—it’s a little haven. I’ll definitely be back.

Staying at Gerthrudes Bed & Breakfast was an absolute delight. Nestled in the charming Santa Teresa neighborhood of Rio, this beautifully preserved 1920s home offers just nine rooms—intimate, elegant, and full of character. The garden is nothing short of stunning, thoughtfully designed by a true green thumb, creating a peaceful oasis right in the heart of the city. The hosts are incredibly warm and personal, making you feel like family from the moment you arrive. Breakfast is a highlight: a generous buffet with fresh, high-quality ingredients that taste homemade and delicious. Honestly, it’s so relaxing here that you’ll find yourself reluctant to leave the hotel each day. The only minor downside? Santa Teresa can be a bit tricky to access, especially in the evenings—you’ll likely need to rely on a ride-share platform, but the quiet, safe atmosphere makes up for it. If you're looking for style over luxury and a truly personalized stay, this place is perfect. It’s not just a hotel—it’s an experience.

Staying at Maison Mama Ruisa in Santa Teresa, Rio de Janeiro was an absolute delight. This charming manor-style boutique hotel boasts thoughtful, elegant decor that instantly makes you feel at home. The owner and staff are incredibly attentive—always going the extra mile to ensure a comfortable and memorable experience. The lush garden and serene swimming pool area are perfect for relaxing, and breakfast served by the pool is generous and delicious. Every detail feels intentional and well-cared for. It’s rare to find such warmth, attention to detail, and genuine hospitality in one place. I highly recommend this gem to anyone visiting Rio—it truly stands out.

Absolutely loved it! The hotel is perfectly located in Santa Teresa, just a short walk from everything we wanted to explore. Dacia was incredibly welcoming and made us feel at home right away. The room was stunning—filled with vibrant, colorful paintings that gave the space such a unique artistic vibe. Breakfast was fresh and delicious, with homemade jams, bread, and juice that tasted amazing. The rooftop view was breathtaking—perfect for sunset drinks or just relaxing with a book. The small pool was a lovely surprise, ideal for cooling off after a day of sightseeing. We especially enjoyed strolling through the neighborhood and grabbing dinner at a cozy little restaurant nearby. Walking into downtown Rio was easy and safe. This place has a special charm—warm, authentic, and full of character. I’d return in a heartbeat. Highly recommend!

The ambiance is absolutely perfect—everything is spotless, well-maintained, and full of charm. What really stands out is how central the location is; all the main attractions are within walking distance, making sightseeing super convenient. Even though it was cloudy during my visit, the view from the property was still stunning and didn’t disappoint at all. It’s a top-tier choice for travelers who want comfort, cleanliness, and easy access to everything. Highly recommended!

We stayed at Casa Beleza for four wonderful days, and it truly exceeded our expectations. The warm hospitality from Bindu and Antoine made all the difference—they were always attentive, offering thoughtful tips that helped us make the most of our trip. What stood out most was their effort during New Year’s Eve: they had already arranged metro tickets for us so we could safely reach Copacabana Beach to enjoy the fireworks show. It was a perfect way to ring in the new year! The bedding was incredibly comfortable, and the breakfast was diverse and delicious—every morning felt like a treat. From the welcoming vibe to the excellent service and prime location, Casa Beleza is a gem. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Rio.

Staying at Casa Vermelha in the heart of Santa Teresa was an absolute delight. Perched atop the hill, the property offers breathtaking panoramic views of Rio de Janeiro that are simply unforgettable—especially during sunset. The hosts were incredibly warm, welcoming, and always ready to share local tips and recommendations, making our experience feel personal and authentic. Despite being on a hill, the location is well-connected with easy access to public transport and surrounded by charming streets filled with art, culture, and cozy cafes. The house itself is beautifully designed, blending rustic charm with modern comfort. Every detail reflects care and attention. This isn’t just a place to stay—it’s a true home away from home. Highly recommended for travelers seeking both tranquility and authenticity in Rio.

I booked this place through a platform expecting a basic, budget-friendly option to rest for a few hours before my connecting flight. It’s not really a tourist accommodation—it serves another purpose entirely. The room is extremely small, barely 2m x 3m—about the size of a standard bathroom—and with a ceiling height of only around 2 meters, it felt claustrophobic. There are two outlets in the room—one at the fan and one at the TV—but since the fan must stay on (due to strong cigarette smell), I had to charge my phone from the TV outlet. The back of the closet was piled with trash—paper, dust, cigarette ash—very unsanitary. The tiny window faces the hallway with no natural ventilation, so noise from other rooms and hallways seeps through easily. The shared bathroom lacked soap, hand towels, and even a sink—just a basin outside where you can wash your hands. The mattress looked old and worn, with a waterproof cover that was cracked and peeling. The overall space feels like someone repurposed a floor into two levels with poor construction standards. Ceiling height violates local regulations (minimum 2.7m required), and I highly doubt they have a valid operating permit. Safety measures, fire prevention, and hygiene don’t meet basic legal requirements. Honestly, this isn’t suitable for travelers—only an absolute last resort.

Our family stay at Casa 48 was absolutely unforgettable. The warm and welcoming hospitality from Valentin and Félix made us feel right at home. We even celebrated New Year’s Eve together with the hosts in a truly unique and cozy atmosphere—so much charm and genuine connection. The location is perfect for exploring Rio, especially starting from Santa Teresa. You can walk or hop on a quick metro ride to reach various neighborhoods. And the view? Absolutely breathtaking—Rio spreads out before you like a postcard. It’s not just a place to sleep; it’s an experience. Highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for authenticity, comfort, and heartwarming moments.

My stay at Andorinha Hotel (Adults Only) was extremely disappointing. I requested breakfast for 10 a.m., but the front desk staff couldn’t even process such a simple request—no follow-up, no communication, just silence. It’s a clear sign of poor training and lack of supervision. To make matters worse, the housekeeping staff acted with outright rudeness, even taking it upon themselves to 'handle complaints' like an unofficial ombudsman. That kind of attitude is not just unprofessional—it’s disrespectful. The hotel’s quiet, private atmosphere might appeal to some, but without basic service standards, it feels more like neglect than exclusivity. For a place marketed as adults-only, the experience felt anything but mature or welcoming. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, there are far better options that actually deliver on service.

This place is the perfect escape from the city's hustle and bustle. I'm a local, and after weeks of nonstop routine, I just needed to disconnect—and this stay delivered exactly that. The historic mansion is full of charming details and cultural touches, yet it seamlessly blends with modern comforts. The room is spacious, airy, and impeccably equipped—everything worked flawlessly. The linens were soft, fresh, and smelled wonderful. Breakfast was exceptional: delicious, varied, and thoughtfully prepared. I left feeling completely recharged. I’ll definitely be back—this time with my whole family. A truly unforgettable experience.

Staying at Bella Ciao Hostel in Rio de Janeiro was one of the most memorable experiences I've had on my trip. The location is unbeatable—just a short walk from the metro and super close to everything worth seeing. The hostel offers incredible value for money, with clean, cozy rooms and a welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home. The common lounge is perfect for working during the day or hanging out in the evening with board games, movies, and great conversations. The staff and regular guests are genuinely warm and friendly—they go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your time in the neighborhood and the city. Special shoutout to Saulo, the owner—he’s incredibly kind, always available, and truly cares about everyone’s well-being. It’s clear he runs this place with heart. I left feeling like I’d made new friends and discovered a hidden gem. Definitely coming back, and I’ll be bringing my travel buddies next time.
