Warm welcome from Walter upon arrival and Daniel was equally attentive during breakfast. The rooms are beautifully designed with high ceilings and Italian-style showers—plus, one spacious room in a separate building comes with an even larger shower area, perfect for relaxing. Breakfast was exceptional: fresh juices, homemade pastries, and freshly baked bread—all made on-site and delicious. The location is wonderfully quiet and peaceful, yet just steps away from the charming cafes and lively restaurants of Santa Teresa, which come alive both day and night. This neighborhood alone makes the trip worthwhile. Villa Laurinda truly stands out as a unique gem in Rio de Janeiro—a place that feels special from the moment you arrive, and one I’d happily return to again.

Absolutely loved it! The hotel is perfectly located in Santa Teresa, just a short walk from everything we wanted to explore. Dacia was incredibly welcoming and made us feel at home right away. The room was stunning—filled with vibrant, colorful paintings that gave the space such a unique artistic vibe. Breakfast was fresh and delicious, with homemade jams, bread, and juice that tasted amazing. The rooftop view was breathtaking—perfect for sunset drinks or just relaxing with a book. The small pool was a lovely surprise, ideal for cooling off after a day of sightseeing. We especially enjoyed strolling through the neighborhood and grabbing dinner at a cozy little restaurant nearby. Walking into downtown Rio was easy and safe. The location is perfect for exploring Rio, especially starting from Santa Teresa. You can walk or hop on a quick metro ride to reach various neighborhoods. And the view? Absolutely breathtaking—Rio spreads out before you like a postcard. It’s not just a place to sleep; it’s an experience. Highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for authenticity, comfort, and heartwarming moments.

The hostel has a spacious and welcoming vibe with plenty of room to relax and socialize. The double room was nicely decorated and made for a comfortable stay. However, I'm disappointed with the lack of communication and refund after canceling my booking—despite promises, I waited over three months with no response or resolution. It's also worth noting that safety concerns mean you’ll need to rely on Uber to get around at night, which adds extra cost and inconvenience. While the location and atmosphere are decent, poor customer service significantly impacts the overall experience.

Staying at this place was an absolute nightmare. The property looked nothing like the photos—dirty, poorly maintained, and frankly, unsanitary. We arrived to find mold on the walls, grime on the doors and mattresses, and no toilet paper in the bathroom. The room we were given was tiny, windowless, and overcrowded for three people—so much so that we had to request a different one after being misled by the owner. When I tried calling the house multiple times with questions, no one answered, yet moments later someone opened a door just to let in a cat. I’d sent a message through the platform before arrival, but it went completely unanswered. My daughter was already unwell upon arrival (travel sickness), and though I helped clean up, we didn’t choose to be sick. The lack of communication, basic hygiene, and overall disregard for guest comfort was shocking. There were dogs barking nonstop throughout the night, and the entrance area looked like a trash heap. It ruined the end of our trip—my kids didn’t even want to change accommodations, but I was horrified just sleeping there. Despite the location’s potential and how welcoming most Brazilians are, this experience was far from what it should’ve been. I strongly advise against staying here and believe platforms need stricter oversight to prevent such substandard listings from being available.
