We politely declined, pointing out that we’d never encountered such a requirement at any other hotel before. They confirmed it was optional, so we didn’t leave the deposit — but the surprise definitely caught us off guard. Despite that hiccup, the stay was still outstanding. Great value, warm hospitality, and a wonderful base for exploring Bordeaux. I’d definitely stay here again.
