The location is fantastic—Ramses Street is just steps away, shops are a minute’s walk, Abu Tarek Koshari is five minutes on foot, and so is the Nile riverfront. The staff are incredible—warm, helpful, always ready to assist without being intrusive. There’s a real sense of calm up here, despite being right in the heart of the city. The energy is vibrant, yet peaceful. I’d happily book an extra night just to enjoy the view again. This place has a unique vibe that makes you want to come back. We were also upgraded to a larger room with a balcony, offering a fantastic view of the city. Breakfast was included and absolutely delicious—fresh, well-prepared, and varied. Everything about this place felt thoughtfully designed for guest comfort. Highly recommend this hidden gem in downtown Cairo!

I strongly advise against staying at this hotel. The staff took my phone under the pretense of verifying my reservation, then used it to leave a fake 5-star review without my consent—this is completely unacceptable. The rooms are tiny, poorly maintained, and frankly, dirty. The photos online are misleading and bear no resemblance to reality; they look like staged images from a different property altogether. I’ve stayed in many hotels across Egypt, and this one easily ranks as the worst. The location isn’t bad—close to public transit and central areas—but the overall experience is ruined by poor service, lack of cleanliness, and outright dishonesty. Not worth the price, not even close. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

My stay at Velvet 1889 Hotel was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had in a hotel. Upon check-in, the front desk refused to provide bed sheets and suggested I just turn on the AC instead — even though it was February, and Cairo nights are extremely cold. When I reached out to customer service, I got the same dismissive response. The bedding was visibly soiled with hair, and the towel I was handed was already damp. I ended up cutting my trip short and leaving by midnight to find another place where I could at least have a warm blanket to sleep under. What struck me most was seeing the front desk staff actually assembling makeshift blankets from the sheets as I walked out — ironic and deeply disrespectful. Throughout the entire ordeal, there was zero apology, no empathy, and absolutely no understanding of basic human needs like staying warm during harsh winter conditions. This wasn’t just disappointing — it felt dehumanizing. I can’t recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort or decency.
