Once back at the hotel, draw a long soak in the tub, slip into your robe, and lose yourself in a good book before drifting off to sleep. If we’d confirmed everything in advance, it would’ve saved us a lot of hassle. The hotel itself has over a century of history, housed in a beautifully restored old palace with an elegant European royal grandmother aesthetic. Our suite was spacious and well-appointed, featuring a smart toilet seat—an uncommon luxury in Europe. The bedding and linens were comfortable and soft, offering a restful night’s sleep. One thing to note: the interior layout is quite winding and narrow, so carrying heavy luggage upstairs can be challenging. But the attention to detail really shines—the bath amenities are from Bredo, with a delicate, refreshing scent that adds a nice touch to the experience. Breakfast wasn’t overly extensive, but the dry breakfast items were decent, and the freshly squeezed orange juice stood out—tangy, sweet, and incredibly fresh. Service was genuinely warm and professional, with staff fluent in English and happy to help. Overall, this is a standout property in Salzburg, especially for families. With a bit more pre-arrival coordination, your stay could be even smoother. A truly memorable place with character and charm.

Everything I needed was thoughtfully provided. But honestly, the location is what truly stands out. Right outside the hotel is the Mirabell Garden, so I spent relaxing afternoons strolling through the gardens or browsing the local market stalls. It’s such a peaceful and convenient base for exploring Salzburg. I’d pre-booked breakfast, and it turned out to be the best I’ve had at any hotel in Austria. Fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented—worth every penny. I highly recommend going for the breakfast-included package if you can. If I ever return to Salzburg, this will be my first choice without hesitation.

This hotel is an absolute must-visit if you're driving—definitely not ideal for those without a car, as it's nestled high in the hills behind Salzburg. The views of the city at sunset are breathtaking and truly unforgettable. While the Michelin-starred restaurant was closed on Sunday during our stay, the breakfast experience still ranked among my top two ever—only surpassed by Landhaus zu Appesch by Wolfgangsee. That said, this place offers the best value for money. The outdoor pool is perfect for relaxing under the alpine sky, and the hillside is home to a small flock of sheep and beehives. I actually tried calling out to the sheep and got a surprisingly fierce response—hilarious! The grassy area right in front of the hotel is ideal for reading, sipping beer, or just soaking up the sun. Moments like these are pure bliss—simple, peaceful, and deeply refreshing.

Even though the price is on the higher side, it’s completely justified by the location, service, and overall experience—especially during peak season. We stayed for three nights, and this was my second visit to Salzburg, yet the city still feels magical. This hotel truly captures its charm. The rooftop terrace in the restaurant (photos one and two) offered stunning views, perfect for morning coffee or sunset drinks. A memorable stay that I’d definitely recommend.

The hotel’s location is ideal for getting into Salzburg by bus, just a short ride away. There’s a small bar on-site, though no dinner service in the evenings. However, there are several restaurants within walking distance, and we tried one nearby (just a 5-minute walk) that served authentic local cuisine—absolutely delicious, though I can’t recall the name now. One thing to note: many places in Salzburg, including this one, operate on cash-only basis, which was common during our trip through the region, including Berchtesgaden. Overall, this place offers a genuine, homely feel with excellent value. If we ever return to Salzburg, we’d definitely choose to stay here again.

I just needed a cozy place to rest at night, and this hotel delivered perfectly. It’s not perfect in every aspect, but for the price and quality, it’s absolutely worth it. Great value, great vibe, and highly recommended.
