Pro tip: if you’re sharing a room with someone you don’t want to see naked, be aware the shower partition isn’t a one-way mirror—you can actually see into it when someone’s showering. I didn’t make it to the rooftop bar this time, but since I’ll be back every time I visit NYC, it’s definitely on my list for next time. It wasn’t coming from another room—it felt immediate, personal. After returning home, my daughter looked up the building’s history, and let’s just say it shed light on everything. There’s a reason why the third floor (near what used to be a fire escape) felt particularly charged. It also explains why my first thought upon opening the front door was, “I’m surprised they get away with inward-opening doors—this violates fire code.” Anyway, if you’re curious, do your own research. But regardless of all that, this is an exceptional hotel at a fair price, located in a safe and beautiful part of Brooklyn. I’ll be back again without hesitation.
