The hotel itself is stunning, with elegant design and impeccable attention to detail. The bedding and amenities were top-notch—comfortable, clean, and luxurious. One highlight? Free access to the guest lounge open from 7:30 AM to 10:00 PM, featuring light snacks, pastries, and drinks—perfect for unwinding after a day of sightseeing. The only minor downside is that the two beds are placed side by side, which might not be ideal if you prefer more space between sleeping areas. One thing to note: after booking online, there’s an additional tax to pay upon check-in—I initially thought it was a deposit and even asked the front desk for a refund at checkout, only to get a confused look in return! Lesson learned. Also, if you want housekeeping service, make sure to place a sign outside your door—unlike some hotels back home, they don’t automatically assume cleaning is needed. Overall, this is a great stay with strong value for money, especially given the central location and clean, modern rooms. I’d definitely recommend it.

The entrance room had a long table with a TV and a cozy sofa area that could easily sleep multiple people, while the other room featured a large tatami mat with two sets of bedding—perfect for four guests. The sliding doors provided good privacy between spaces. The entire place was spotlessly clean and secure, with a simple password entry system. It’s just a 10–15 minute walk to four subway stations, making it super convenient for exploring Kyoto. Ideal for families or groups of friends looking for comfort, convenience, and authentic local charm without breaking the bank.

KABIN Kyoto
Staying at KABIN Kyoto was a real highlight of my trip to Kyoto. The hotel is stylish, quiet, and perfectly located right in the heart of the city—yet tucked away on a peaceful little street. What stood out most was their unique cleaning system: rooms are cleaned every three days, but you can simply hang a magnet on the door if you need trash removed during the day. Fresh towels are available on every floor at any time—super convenient. Staff were attentive and friendly throughout. The only downside? Laundry machines are limited—just two per floor—and sometimes they’re out of service or occupied because guests don’t collect their clothes promptly. It can be tricky to find an open machine. Also, windows don’t open, which made the room feel a bit stuffy at times, but the air conditioning and fan mode helped keep things comfortable. Overall, it’s a smart, well-designed stay with great value.

The onsen and sauna are modest in size, but since we visited during a quiet time, there were no crowds. It felt peaceful and serene, so the space never felt cramped or overwhelming. Our room was spacious—by far the largest I’ve experienced in any Japanese hotel. Every detail, from the furniture to the decorative elements, felt high-end and well-curated. The interior design throughout the hotel is stunning; walking around felt like a visual treat. That was actually one of the main reasons I chose this property. I didn’t manage to book a spa treatment in advance, but when I called on the day, the staff went above and beyond to help—even though all slots were full. They actively searched for an available spot and found one for me. That level of dedication truly stood out. I’m incredibly grateful.
