I stayed at a hotel right across from Kyoto Station the first day—more expensive by over $200, yet felt underwhelming. Turns out, there's actually a branch of this same chain near the station, and this location is far superior in both comfort and value. The location here is fantastic—just a short walk to Daimaru and Takashimaya department stores, with an Arc'teryx store just around the corner. Getting to the Kamo River is easy too, and you're right in the heart of Kyoto’s busiest shopping district. You can hear traffic at night, but it’s not disruptive—the soundproofing works surprisingly well. The room was spacious, almost like an upgrade; I had no trouble laying out two suitcases. Best part? Free drinking water on-site—no need to buy bottled water. The front desk even provides complimentary skincare products, including facial cleanser, moisturizer, and even hair serum—so fragrant and gentle, I regret only taking one bottle. The entire hotel has a cozy Christmas vibe, making it feel warm and inviting. I’ll definitely book here again next time I visit Kyoto!

Laundry machines are limited—just two per floor—and sometimes they’re out of service or occupied because guests don’t collect their clothes promptly. It can be tricky to find an open machine.
