The Westin Miyako Kyoto truly lives up to its reputation—excellent quality and service throughout. Located in eastern Kyoto, it’s just a short walk from Exit 2 of the Keihan Subway's Katsuyama Station, making access super convenient. One of the highlights is the on-site hot spring bath—definitely worth trying if you’re looking to unwind. My initial room was near the street and a bit noisy, but after speaking with the front desk, they quickly arranged a room change. Special thanks to Mr. Yamane and another staff member who looked like a young Hikaru Nakamura (I mean, a little like Hikaru Nakamura—just kidding!)—they were incredibly helpful and polite. The hotel also offers a direct shuttle to Kyoto Station, departing at 8:00 AM on weekends and holidays, and 9:00 AM on weekdays, with departures every hour at :10 and :40—only 25 minutes to the station, perfect for travelers. Daily housekeeping kept the room spotless, just as clean as when I first arrived, and they even included calming essential oils each day. Breakfast was outstanding—especially the homemade onigiri corner, where a cheerful lady made some of the most delicious rice balls I’ve ever had. It’s definitely worth waking up early for. Overall, this hotel delivers comfort, convenience, and genuine hospitality—highly recommended!

I was especially happy to see a Korean-speaking staff member on duty, which made the experience even more comfortable for me. On our first evening, we dined at KOYO?, where the teppanyaki was absolutely outstanding—rich, flavorful, and unforgettable. The taste lingered long after the meal, and I still think about it. Breakfast was equally impressive, with each dish fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. Definitely worth trying if you're staying here. The onsen and sauna are modest in size, but since we visited during a quiet time, there were no crowds. It felt peaceful and serene, so the space never felt cramped or overwhelming. Our room was spacious—by far the largest I’ve experienced in any Japanese hotel. Every detail, from the furniture to the decorative elements, felt high-end and well-curated. The interior design throughout the hotel is stunning; walking around felt like a visual treat. That was actually one of the main reasons I chose this property. I didn’t manage to book a spa treatment in advance, but when I called on the day, the staff went above and beyond to help—even though all slots were full. They actively searched for an available spot and found one for me. That level of dedication truly stood out. I’m incredibly grateful.

I appreciated the availability of Chinese-speaking staff, which made communication easy and comforting. The room itself was bright, spacious, and well-equipped—everything you’d need for a relaxing stay. It’s also perfectly located near shopping malls and supermarkets, so dining out or grabbing essentials is effortless. Plus, the autumn foliage is in full glory right now—those vibrant red maple leaves make the area even more picturesque. I couldn’t be happier with my stay at Kyoto Tokyu Hotel—this was truly one of the best experiences I’ve had in Japan. The room was prepared exactly to my request, which made me feel right at home from the moment I arrived. The executive lounge was a highlight: offering a wide range of snacks, coffee, tea, and even alcoholic drinks, perfect for unwinding after a long day exploring Kyoto. Room amenities were top-notch—everything was well-maintained, quiet, and functioned smoothly. The only small downside? The hairdryer was a bit outdated and took longer than expected to dry my hair, but it’s a minor issue. What really stood out was the exceptional service—the front desk staff were warm and attentive, and the shuttle service was seamless and thoughtfully arranged. The hotel shuttle stops just behind Kyoto Station, near the Hachijo East Exit, making transfers super convenient. It runs from 8 AM to 8:30 PM, so you can easily get into and out of the city without stress. I highly recommend this hotel—especially if you value comfort, convenience, and genuine hospitality. Staying at Six Senses Kyoto was an absolute highlight of my trip to Japan. From the moment I walked in, the warm and thoughtful Japanese hospitality stood out—staff were polite, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without being overbearing. The hotel itself feels fresh and modern, with a strong emphasis on sustainability woven into every detail, from the food and drinks to the design. I couldn’t book the spa (it’s famously popular), but the on-site hot spring was a wonderful alternative—perfect for unwinding after a long day. The omakase restaurant downstairs was an unforgettable experience; watching the chef craft each piece of sushi with such precision and care felt like art in motion. Even though I had the place mostly to myself during dinner and drinks at the bar, service remained impeccable and personal. Breakfast was a half-self-service spread—I enjoyed the Western-style options, though the omelette could’ve been fluffier. The Japanese rice was excellent, and while other dishes were just average, the welcome fruits and little pastries added a sweet touch, even if they didn’t quite hit the mark flavor-wise. A small disappointment: no welcome champagne, but that’s just a minor note in what was otherwise a flawless stay. If you’re looking for a serene, eco-conscious retreat with exceptional service and culinary charm, this is it.

There are plenty of local cafes, boutiques, and restaurants nearby, making it easy to explore Kyoto’s charm without needing to travel far. For a peaceful retreat with great convenience, this place is a must-book.
Loisir Hotel Kyoto Toji
The location is excellent—just a short walk from Kyoto Station, making it super convenient for exploring the city and getting around by train. The hotel is spotlessly clean with all the essentials you’d expect, and the room amenities are well thought out. The only minor downside is that the two beds are placed side by side, which might not be ideal if you prefer more space between sleeping areas. One thing to note: after booking online, there’s an additional tax to pay upon check-in—I initially thought it was a deposit and even asked the front desk for a refund at checkout, only to get a confused look in return! Lesson learned. Also, if you want housekeeping service, make sure to place a sign outside your door—unlike some hotels back home, they don’t automatically assume cleaning is needed. Overall, this is a great stay with strong value for money, especially given the central location and clean, modern rooms. I’d definitely recommend it.

The Machiya Kazahaya
Staying at The Machiya Kazahaya was an absolute delight! This charming, standalone machiya-style house is a true gem—compact yet spacious, with six rooms across two floors. We were on the second floor, which included two private rooms, a fully equipped kitchen (stove, microwave, cookware), and a well-designed bathroom split into three zones: toilet, shower with a bathtub, and sink—all very practical. The entrance room had a long table with a TV and a cozy sofa area that could easily sleep multiple people, while the other room featured a large tatami mat with two sets of bedding—perfect for four guests. The sliding doors provided good privacy between spaces. The entire place was spotlessly clean and secure, with a simple password entry system. It’s just a 10–15 minute walk to four subway stations, making it super convenient for exploring Kyoto. Ideal for families or groups of friends looking for comfort, convenience, and authentic local charm without breaking the bank.
Rinn Kyoto Miyagawasuji hitotose Aki
Staying at this hotel was absolutely one of the best decisions I made during my trip to Kyoto. The location is perfect—just a short walk from major attractions like Gion and Fushimi Inari, and public transportation is super convenient. The building itself won a design award, and it shows in every detail—from the thoughtful layout to the elegant finishes. My room had a private bathroom, but what really stood out was the on-site Japanese-style bath with a soaking tub, plus an outdoor hot spring pool that felt magical under the night sky. The room also came stocked with drinks including beer, wine, and coffee, and even had a high-end fridge and a laundry machine—so much convenience!
