This is easily one of the best hotels in Nara town. The atmosphere is peaceful and elegant, and the staff goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. From the moment we arrived, everything was seamless—friendly service, clean rooms, and a lovely ambiance. The breakfast spread was already quite good, but it could be even better with a wider variety of hot dishes and more local specialties. Still, it's a standout choice for anyone visiting Nara. Comfortable, well-located, and truly memorable. I’d definitely stay here again.

Staying at Novotel Nara was an absolute delight! This business-class hotel offers a perfect blend of comfort and value. The room was immaculate, with plush bedding that made for a restful night's sleep. Located near convenience stores, restaurants, and a shopping complex, everything you need is within easy reach. The mini-fridge in the room runs silently, and there’s a safe for added peace of mind. On the second floor, I enjoyed complimentary access to the fitness center, a relaxing onsen, and a massage chair—perfect for unwinding after a long day. There’s also a dedicated kids’ activity room, making it ideal for families. One standout feature was the quiet hallway and excellent soundproofing—no noise from neighboring rooms, even late at night. The location is perfect: just a short walk to Nara Museum and Shōsōin, and even closer to Nara Park, making it ideal for exploring on foot. The onsen was warm and relaxing—exactly what we needed after a long day of sightseeing. One standout moment was the kind hospitality from the male staff member on duty the evening of November 5th. It was raining when we left, and he kindly walked us to our taxi, holding an umbrella the whole way. That small act of care truly made our experience memorable. On the other hand, one of the younger female front desk staff seemed less welcoming—when we asked if we could pick up yukata in the lobby, she said they were already in the room, but we never found any. After checking with other guests, we learned the yukata are indeed meant to be collected at the front desk. A simple miscommunication, but something worth clarifying for future visitors. Overall, the warmth and attention to detail from most of the team more than made up for it. This ryokan offers incredible value and a genuine sense of welcome—definitely a place I’d return to without hesitation.

The corner room has amazing natural light and feels more spacious than expected. You can see the train station right from the window, making travel super convenient—especially with the second-floor skywalk connecting directly to the station. No need to worry about the weather when heading out. There's a 7-Eleven on the ground floor, and just a 2-minute walk brings you to cozy cafes and a local bakery for breakfast or an afternoon treat. The bus to Todai-ji Temple is located on the opposite side of the station plaza, so it’s easy to access. The front desk staff were incredibly polite and patient—answered all my questions clearly and warmly. From location to service, everything was top-notch. This place offers excellent value and made our stay in Nara smooth and enjoyable. Definitely coming back.

For repeat stays, they even offer fresh towels and daily trash collection; just place your used towels in the laundry basket and leave both the basket and trash bin by the door. What really stood out was the peaceful vibe of Nara—the locals are incredibly kind, especially toward the deer, which made the whole experience feel so warm and welcoming. I’d love to come back and stay longer next time to truly soak in the city’s charm.

Rooms are spacious enough, clean and well-maintained with modern furnishings. Everything you’d expect is there: functional air conditioning with customizable settings (a big plus!), no unpleasant odors, and a fresh, welcoming atmosphere. The bed and pillows were perfectly balanced—soft but supportive, making for a restful night’s sleep. Noise insulation is excellent, so you won’t be disturbed by hallway sounds or outside noise. The hot spring features both indoor and outdoor pools, though the pools are on the smaller side—expect some crowding during peak hours, but the warm water is absolutely relaxing. Parking is abundant and affordable at ¥1,200 per night, which makes it ideal for those traveling by car. Check-in was fast and smooth, with friendly staff who clearly explained facilities and breakfast details. There’s also a self-service station in the lobby with complimentary toiletries, coffee, and tea—very thoughtful. Breakfast isn’t gourmet, but it offers enough variety and portion size to fill you up. It’s situated right at the main entrance of the station building, with two automatic doors to guide you, and you’ll head up to the 4th floor to reach the lobby. The room was spacious for a double booking—there was plenty of room to stretch out on the large bed, which was super comfortable (though slightly on the soft side). If you’re particular about mattress firmness, it might be worth noting. What really stood out was the thoughtful touches: they provide sleepwear and even let you choose your own pillow type to bring back to the room. The sleepwear itself is made from calming, sleep-enhancing fabric—such a nice detail that shows how much they care about guest relaxation. The on-site hot spring is clean, well-designed, and easy to navigate. While the pool isn’t huge, it’s very comfortable and relaxing. There’s a real-time display in the lobby showing hot spring usage, so you can avoid crowds and visit during quieter times. From 5 PM to 9 PM, there’s also complimentary tea and drinks available in the lounge—perfect for unwinding with a drink after a long day exploring Nara. Despite being next to a busy street, the rooms are surprisingly quiet at night. Check-in was smooth and efficient, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room itself was well-equipped with everything you’d need, from toiletries to amenities, all thoughtfully provided. It’s rare to find such comfort and convenience at this price point. I’ll definitely stay here again on my next trip to Nara—and I’d recommend it to anyone visiting the area.
