Even though Ximending is one of Taipei’s most expensive areas, the room space is surprisingly generous—definitely not cramped. The timing was perfect too: we arrived right during Taipei Lantern Festival, and the streets were alive with colorful displays. The light shows were breathtaking, rivaling anything I’ve seen in Las Vegas. It felt magical walking through the festive streets, surrounded by dazzling decorations. This stay exceeded expectations—great value, unbeatable location, and unforgettable atmosphere. Would book again without hesitation.

Our room was spotless and well-equipped with everything we needed: slippers, shampoo, shower gel, and even a mini-fridge. The bathroom was compact, but that’s completely expected for a budget hotel in this price range. Just a quick note — smoking is strictly prohibited throughout the property. The location is unbeatable for convenience. There’s street food right downstairs, perfect for late-night cravings. Within walking distance, you’ll find Family Mart, OK Mart, 7-Eleven, and Starbucks — all super handy for snacks and essentials. A short stroll leads you straight to Ximen Station and the vibrant Ximending Night Market, which even has a POP MART store for collectors! Getting to and from the airport is simple — just hop on bus number 1961, which stops near Ximen Crossing. Overall, this is a fantastic budget-friendly gem that delivers excellent value. I was really impressed with this place, especially since it's hard to book rooms during weekends. I chose this hotel mainly because of the affordable price and its excellent location right in the Ximending district—super convenient for exploring the area and walking around at night. The room is on the smaller side, but that didn’t bother me much since we were out most of the day. We’d just come back, rest a bit, and feel refreshed. One small downside was the weak water pressure in the shower, but honestly, it didn’t affect our stay at all given how little time we spent inside. Overall, great value, safe neighborhood, and perfect for travelers who love being out and about. Definitely would stay here again.
Super Star Hostel
I booked a non-refundable two-night stay at this hostel from December 30, 2023, to January 1, 2024, but shortly before arrival, the hotel reached out and claimed there was a pricing error. They demanded I pay double the original rate upon check-in—something I refused, as it violated our agreed booking terms. Instead of negotiating or offering alternatives, they unilaterally canceled my reservation without consent and immediately relisted the room at a much higher price. This is not just poor customer service—it’s unethical and completely disregard for contract integrity. I’ve never experienced such a dishonest business practice before. If you’re considering staying here, think twice. Don’t assume your booking is secure. The risk of being charged more or having your reservation canceled without reason is very real. Truly disappointing and not worth the hassle.
