Founded in 1499 under Grand Prince Ivan III of Moscow, St. Daniel Monastery was built to honor Saint Daniel, a revered Orthodox saint. Originally a wooden church, it underwent multiple reconstructions and evolved into one of Moscow’s most significant Orthodox spiritual centers. It played a vital role in defending national territory and religious traditions during 16th-century conflicts. The complex blends Byzantine domes with distinct Russian architectural elements. Inside, priceless icons and manuscripts from the 17th–18th centuries remain preserved, reflecting immense historical and artistic value. Today, it remains an active monastery with daily liturgies.

Several sightseeing bus tours (e.g., "Moscow City Tour") also include the site, offering audio guides and historical commentary—ideal for first-time travelers.

The monastery houses an 18th-century Monastery Museum showcasing rare icons, ancient manuscripts, and liturgical artifacts—some donated by the Russian Orthodox Patriarch himself. Each summer, the "Monastery Music Festival" features performances by the church choir and the State Symphony Orchestra, presenting works by Bach and Prokofiev in a solemn, reverent atmosphere. Visitors can also book the "Traditional Monk Breakfast Experience," savoring rye bread, honey, and sour milk while learning basic prayer rituals. Founded in 1490 by Grand Prince Ivan III to honor his son Prince Daniel, the monastery combines Byzantine and Moscow architectural styles, built with red brick and centered around the Golden-Domed Assumption Cathedral—once hailed as the "Eastern Hagia Sophia." Despite destruction during wars and closure under Soviet rule in the 1930s, it was restored in the 1990s and reactivated as a religious site. Today, it remains a key center of the Russian Orthodox Church and is listed as a candidate for UNESCO World Heritage status. Original 16th-century frescoes still adorn its walls, preserving centuries of spiritual artistry.

Additionally, the adjacent green walking trail offers family strolls with historical plaques along the way, blending recreation and education. Page 20 Apart-Hotel

Staying at Page 20 Apart-Hotel was a pleasant surprise. The price-to-quality ratio is outstanding—rooms are spacious, comfortable, and well-designed with high-end Bosch appliances. The kitchenette is fully equipped, so cooking a quick meal was easy and convenient. Small touches like fresh apples and cookies at check-in made the experience feel welcoming. The location is a bit tricky to find—right next to DR HEAD on Novy Arbat Street—but the hotel sends a photo of the entrance in advance, which helped us locate it without stress. Note that the front desk is on the 20th floor and not always staffed, so you’ll need to call ahead if you need assistance. While it’s a 10-minute walk from the nearest metro, getting to the Kremlin turned out to be even faster on foot—just 10 minutes to the ticket office, which we found surprisingly easy despite being confused at first. Overall, this place offers great value, a quiet atmosphere, and excellent access to Moscow’s top sights. Perfect for travelers who want comfort, convenience, and a home-like stay.

Viewpoint Hotel

Staying at Viewpoint Hotel was an absolute pleasure. The location is unbeatable—just a 7-minute walk from Red Square, making it incredibly convenient for exploring Moscow’s main attractions. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean, with excellent hygiene and security measures in place. The front desk is located in room 47 on the second floor, and you can contact them via the intercom system at the main entrance—very efficient. Breakfast can be delivered to your room, or you can head over to the breakfast lounge just a 6-minute walk away, which is actually housed in another hotel under the same management. The breakfast menu is fantastic—fresh salmon, a variety of made-to-order dishes, and friendly service. I left feeling satisfied and energized. I’d definitely book here again next time I visit Moscow—it’s a top choice for both comfort and convenience.

Glenver Garden Hotel

Staying at Glenver Garden Hotel was a great experience overall. The location is incredibly convenient—right next to Paveletskaya Metro Station, making it easy to get around Moscow by public transit. There's also a large shopping mall nearby, with a bank on the basement level for currency exchange, which was very handy. The hotel has clear Chinese signage, and the front desk staff speaks basic Mandarin, which made communication smooth. One small improvement could be adding Beijing time on the lobby clock and including Mandarin announcements in the elevators. Breakfast options were fairly diverse, though weekday service ends earlier than on weekends or holidays—something worth considering. The fitness center is compact but well-maintained with modern equipment. It’s a bit chilly without heating, so adding warmth would definitely enhance comfort. All in all, this hotel offers excellent value for money and is a solid choice for travelers visiting Moscow.

Sadovnicheskaya City Center

Our stay at Sadovnicheskaya City Center was extremely disappointing. Upon arrival, we were informed there was no room available for our reservation—despite having confirmed online. We were eventually assigned a different, older room with minimal cleanliness and outdated furnishings. The luggage wasn’t delivered until nearly an hour after check-in, and we were charged a fine of 7,500 rubles for the delay. This is completely unacceptable. While the hotel’s location is convenient for getting around Moscow via metro, the lack of basic service reliability and poor communication made the experience frustrating. We expected better from a place charging this rate. I won’t be returning, nor would I recommend it to anyone.

Red Square and major attractions are within easy reach, making it ideal for sightseeing. The hotel itself is beautifully designed, modern, and very stylish. The breakfast was delicious—fresh, varied, and well-prepared. Even though the room is compact, it’s perfect for solo travelers, with all amenities and smart technology included. Right next to the hotel is a convenient supermarket, and after check-out, I enjoyed a relaxing morning stroll through the nearby park or just exploring the charming streets—every corner feels like a photo opportunity. Truly a gem in central Moscow!
