Staying at this Atour Hotel near Chengdu East Railway Station and Sichuan Normal University Metro Station for 14 days was an absolute delight. We booked a family room, and it exceeded all expectations—spacious with two separate sleeping areas, two queen beds, two sofas, and two desks. There was plenty of room to spread out our luggage and belongings without feeling cramped. The cleanliness was impressive—every corner felt fresh and well-maintained. Breakfast offered a great mix of Chinese and Western options, but what stood out was the evening porridge service—an unexpected and thoughtful touch I’ve never seen in other hotels before. The laundry room was accessible anytime, which made life so much easier. Located right at the subway entrance, getting around Chengdu was incredibly convenient. Staff were friendly and attentive throughout. The restaurant team even prepared perfectly cooked eggs every morning—just the way we liked them. Front desk staff were always cheerful and helpful, no request too small. A maintenance worker also went above and beyond by patiently helping clear a clogged toilet. Later, when I realized I’d left behind some clothes, the hotel not only washed them but sent them back via courier—truly exceptional service. Yes, there’s construction nearby, but noise didn’t disrupt our rest at all. This was one of the best stays I’ve had in China—highly recommend it for families or solo travelers alike!

I finally made it to Chengdu for an overnight stay—something I’d wanted to do ever since my previous visits in 2005 and 2018, when I only passed through without stopping. This time, during my extended trip from October 2nd to 13th, I was determined to spend at least one night here. My main goal? To visit the tomb of Guan Yu (Guan Yunchang), famously mentioned in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, located supposedly in eastern Chengdu. After arriving at Chengdu South Railway Station, I took a taxi straight there—but unfortunately, the site was closed due to major construction work. Still, I managed to take some photos from outside before heading to my hotel. The Atour Hotel at Chengdu East Railway Station turned out to be a delightful surprise. Located right near the train station, it’s incredibly convenient for getting around the city—just a short subway ride into downtown. The hotel itself is spotless, modern, and part of a fresh concept with thoughtful touches like a mini-fridge in the room. Staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. Dinner featured a rich, comforting soup that stood out, and breakfast was excellent—plenty of choices, high quality. What truly added charm was the little tea house next door; I spent a relaxed evening sipping tea and chatting with locals, exchanging stories and laughs. Even the puzzle game by the elevator added a fun, unexpected moment while waiting. It’s rare to find a hotel that combines comfort, service, and personality so well.
