Hotel Handall is perfectly located in the heart of Cancún, just a block away from Chedraui, pharmacies, restaurants, and a bus stop heading straight to the hotel zone. The hotel’s café serves delicious food at very affordable prices, though it closes at 5 PM—luckily there’s a 24-hour convenience store right outside for late-night needs. The place feels quiet and mostly empty, which actually worked in our favor—we stayed 8 days and had the small pool all to ourselves for 5 of them. That kind of privacy is rare and appreciated. The rooms are spotless and well-maintained, but the front desk staff were quite serious and not very welcoming. Still, if you’re looking for a clean, low-key stay with easy access to everything, this hotel delivers great value without the touristy crowds.

While the sauna requires booking a day in advance (and slots fill up fast), other amenities like the pool and beach access were excellent. Staff were friendly and attentive throughout. The only minor downside is the absence of a bathtub, but honestly, that didn’t bother me much. Overall, it’s a well-designed resort with top-notch service and convenience—perfect for a relaxing getaway.

Right outside the door, there's an Oxxo convenience store just steps away, offering breakfast options starting at 100 pesos. I tried the 130-peso combo with coffee, bread, cereal, and eggs—it was delicious and very reasonable. The only minor downside is a rock bar next door that plays music at night, but honestly, after a long day of exploring Cancun, we were so tired we barely noticed it. We slept well anyway. Overall, this place exceeded my expectations. I’d definitely stay here again without hesitation.

Hotel Colonial San Carlos Cancún Centro
The stay wasn’t great, especially the bathroom—really unpleasant. The toilet wasn’t clean at all; there was still urine in it (they couldn’t even flush it properly), and the bowl was splattered with stains. Just gross overall. The room itself is barely acceptable—walls show signs of dampness, and there’s a musty smell as soon as you walk in. The beds seem okay, but honestly, I didn’t want to dig too deep into what might be hiding under the sheets. On the bright side, the AC works fine, and the hotel is conveniently located near Cancún’s city center. There’s also a small supermarket just a few steps away, which comes in handy for last-minute essentials. To be honest, if you’re only staying for a couple of days and don’t mind basic accommodations, this could work as a budget option. But let’s be clear: it doesn’t even come close to the standard of a decent roadside motel. Definitely not worth the price if you’ve stayed in similar low-end places before—they’re way better.

The room was spacious and comfortable, with a well-equipped bathroom that included a private toilet. The air conditioning and TV worked perfectly—everything you’d want for a relaxing stay. What I loved most was the array of delicious street food restaurants right across the street. We had amazing meals without having to go far. It’s such a convenient, authentic local experience. This place really delivers on comfort and value—definitely going to come back.
