Yes, the immediate sea view is currently blocked by construction, but getting to nearby attractions is super convenient via taxi—especially Ferringhi Bay, where we cut travel time in half. If you're planning multiple nights in Penang, I’d strongly recommend splitting your stay between here and George Town. This place offers better value, comfort, and a more relaxed vibe than the city center, making it an ideal home base for exploring the island.

For sightseeing, hopping on a trishaw to Sungai Pijer Bridge takes less than 10 minutes by car, or you can walk there in about 15 minutes—perfect for exploring the city’s charm. We arrived early—well before check-in time—and were pleasantly surprised to be checked in right away. The front desk even handed us chilled juice as a welcome gesture, which added a lovely touch. Located just minutes from the city center, it’s super convenient for exploring George Town via public transit. The local durian is an absolute must-try—rich, creamy, and unforgettable. This hotel offers great value and experience, and I’d definitely return.
Cheong Fatt Tze - the Blue Mansion
藍屋真係完全超出我嘅期待！今次去檳城，住過幾間五星級酒店，但張弼士故居酒店－藍房絕對係最滿意的一間。之前睇評論先入為主覺得老建築有陰氣、附近酒館唱到凌晨，其實完全唔使擔心——我們入住期間冇半點異樣感覺，雖然酒館確係唱到十二點，但家人同我都唔會受影響，而且酒店仲免費提供耳塞（雖然我哋都冇用），根本冇造成任何滋擾。 地理位置超級方便，去藝術街、莫定標、愛情巷、Badjenid 都走幾分鐘就到，沿途仲可以欣賞多不勝數嘅壁畫、老式招牌同建築，好有氛圍。打車去三條路、First Avenue、Penang Road 亦只消五分鐘，交通極之便捷。 我最鍾意三樣：第一，酒店本身設計超美，靛藍外牆吸睛爆燈，中庭、樓梯、側院都適合拍照，尤其訪客只能喺11am至6pm參觀，其他時間你可以放心瘋狂打卡，完全唔使尷尬；第二，浴室設計太讚了，黑白瓷磚配搭簡約又高級，我連喺度拍咗一組照片，實在愛到不得了。第三，設施齊備又新穎，唔似一般古蹟酒店就忽略舒適度。我哋個廁所乾淨到令我驚訝，連潔癖人士都啱啱啱。電視同藍牙音響都可以連手機，下午瞓覺時聽陶喆重編版《流沙》，心靜又感動。門口保安非常負責，嚴格查證出入人員，主動幫搬行李，笑容滿面，安全感十足。早餐亦唔錯，有自助部分，仲有自煮叻沙可選，仲有每日不同主廚菜單，每位住客可選一道，喺中庭食飯簡直浪漫到爆😍

Absolutely fantastic experience! The hotel is immaculately clean and has a fresh, serene atmosphere that instantly puts you at ease. Breakfast was outstanding—huge variety with a highlight being the authentic coconut rice, which was rich, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. I also enjoyed the afternoon tea selection, perfect for unwinding after exploring George Town. The location is excellent—just a short walk from public transit and central attractions. This place offers incredible value and comfort. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Penang.
Sunrise Gurney
I stayed in Unit 12-02 with four friends, booking what was advertised as a three-bedroom apartment. However, the reality couldn’t be more different. To me, a bedroom means some level of enclosure and privacy—not an open space where beds are scattered across different corners of the room. What I actually got was a studio-style unit with a loft at best. (Check the photo.) Beds were placed in two main areas—A and B—and additional mattresses were set up at point C. There was absolutely no privacy, and zero sound insulation. One loud snorer and everyone else was awake all night. The apartment has two toilets: one on the main floor and another on the loft. The ground-floor one feels like an afterthought—shower is squeezed between the toilet and sink in a tiny space. Every time you shower, water splashes everywhere, soaking the entire bathroom. It’s no surprise the door is damaged and the wood is rotting. The loft toilet is slightly better, with a separate shower area, but mold is clearly visible on the walls due to poor maintenance. There’s no closet in the entire unit—everything had to be piled on the sofa or hung on a rack. One sofa was so worn out it needed replacing. Plus, the lights in the living area didn’t work at all. Most disturbing was the floor-to-ceiling window that directly faces the living room of the adjacent unit (12-01), where one bed is actually located. Soundproofing is terrible—you can hear voices, laughter, and other noises from outside the apartment throughout the night. The listing claims it can accommodate up to ten people—but only if you’re ready to throw everything on the floor and sleep anywhere. Please just call this a studio apartment. Don’t mislead guests by calling it a three-bedroom. This unit desperately needs renovation and proper upkeep. It’s not worth the price, especially when expectations were so far off.

The location is incredibly convenient—just a short walk to George Town’s main attractions and vibrant streets, and having a MyNew right on the ground floor makes daily errands a breeze. I initially got assigned a parking spot on the upper level, but when I politely asked if it could be moved downstairs, the staff immediately accommodated me with no hassle—truly excellent service. The view is stunning, especially in the morning when sunlight spills across the seafront balcony. The 2-bedroom unit is spacious, well-designed, and feels so comfortable after a long day of exploring. Everything about this place screams value for money—great location, friendly staff, and a peaceful seaside vibe. I’d definitely book again and recommend it to anyone visiting Penang who wants comfort, convenience, and a beautiful view all in one.

While parking can be tight, it’s not an issue if you’re arriving by ride-share or public transit. The room was clean and well-maintained, and the staff were friendly and helpful.
