Karina went above and beyond with her service—she even surprised me with a birthday cake 🎂, which made the whole stay feel special. The breakfast extending until 11 AM is such a thoughtful touch, especially on weekends when you can just enjoy it as a relaxed brunch and skip lunch. The only minor downside? The room ran surprisingly hot—even at 16°C, it felt stuffy, and by afternoon it seemed close to 30°C, so maybe a slight AC adjustment would help. Also, the pool is on the smaller side. Although the hotel was undergoing renovations to the temple and Building 8, and it was winter, I wasn’t able to fully enjoy the beautiful garden scenery of Nanyuan. Still, the overall experience was outstanding. The staff were exceptional—helping with luggage, offering electric shuttle service between buildings, and ensuring comfort throughout. Even in the evening, the fitness center and swimming pool were warm and inviting, so no worries about getting cold. Breakfast was one of the better ones in this chain: the noodle stall stood out with unique items like sesame brown sugar smoothies and a special vegetarian pan-fried dumpling. Staff were attentive—the moment my mom sat down, someone asked if she wanted soy milk, and three cups arrived right away. The duplex room was spacious, especially the second-floor bedroom, which felt very comfortable. A few facilities could use upgrading—like the showerhead pressure and the small, outdated changing rooms at the pool area. That said, the evening ambiance in the lobby was truly magical: soft melodies from pipa and guqin performances created a peaceful, almost tea-house-like atmosphere. We ended up switching from the soon-to-be-closed Yangcheng Lake Banyan Tree—our original plan was a last-minute escape. Choosing Four Seasons Suzhou turned out to be one of our best decisions. The location is unbeatable: directly on the lake, with a peaceful walkway along the water that’s easy and relaxing. The hotel itself isn’t huge, so you can easily explore it without feeling overwhelmed. Our room was spacious and well-proportioned, with two single beds and a sofa that converted into an extra bed—perfect for three of us, and we all slept comfortably. We upgraded in-house for a small fee to a higher-floor lake-view room, and the view was absolutely stunning. Waking up to the calm, glass-like surface of Jinji Lake instantly lifted our mood. Dining was a bit tricky—we didn’t pre-book the Chinese restaurant, and every seating was fully booked. We tried the buffet instead, which was solid but nothing extraordinary. Still, compared to the previous hotel where the air conditioning broke in the Chinese restaurant and the Western dining only served breakfast, this was a major improvement. The hotel overall is excellent—comfortable rooms, great amenities, and friendly staff. While it’s a bit of a walk from the nearest subway station, it’s manageable and not a major issue. Breakfast was decent with a variety of options, but the coffee and tea were disappointing. The coffee was extremely weak—by far the weakest I’ve had in any hotel stay. The black tea tasted more like colored water than actual tea, and there were no fresh tea bags available for brewing. It really brought down the experience, especially since other aspects of the stay were so positive. That said, the room comfort, cleanliness, and service all exceeded expectations. Definitely worth staying again if they can upgrade the beverage offerings.
