Our three days in Cape Town couldn’t have started any better! We stayed on the ground floor of the gray building (photo 5/65)—a spacious, beautifully appointed apartment with a cozy balcony where we enjoyed chilled white wine upon arrival, perfect for evening relaxation. The kitchen was thoughtfully equipped, the bathroom spotless and well-maintained, and the bed was incredibly comfortable—truly restful. Of course, the rooftop pool terrace deserves special mention: stunning views of Table Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean make it a must-visit spot. We didn’t even need to use the washing machine in the basement. The location is unbeatable—just around the corner from Bo-Kaap, ideal for an early morning visit when crowds are thinner, and a short walk to V&A Waterfront. Hank and Guido were exceptional hosts—always available with helpful tips and friendly advice whenever needed. This stay was truly unforgettable. A definite recommendation!
Flatrock Suites
Staying at Flatrock Suites was a major disappointment. The hotel is located directly above a nightclub, and the loud music and constant laughter kept going until 6 a.m., making it nearly impossible to sleep. I booked a two-bedroom suite, but only one room had air conditioning— the other had no fan at all, which made it extremely uncomfortable in the heat. To make matters worse, the DSTV service didn’t work, and despite reaching out to the property management team, I received zero support or assistance. There were also no curtains or blinds on the main bedroom door, so sunlight flooded into the room by 5 a.m., disrupting any chance of rest. Overall, the experience was poor, with multiple basic amenities failing and no effort from staff to resolve issues. Definitely not worth it, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

She makes sure every need is met without ever overstepping. I loved the honesty bar—it’s so convenient and adds a nice touch of independence. The coffee machine is top-notch; perfect for morning brews. The rooms are spacious, beautifully furnished, and incredibly comfortable. It’s one of those places you instantly want to return to. If you’re looking for a stylish, relaxed stay with genuine hospitality, this is it.

The building itself feels secure with reliable entry access to the canal area—perfect for evening strolls. That said, the unit could use a deeper clean occasionally—especially around the kitchen sink, microwave, and tile grout where some buildup is noticeable. While proper laundry detergent was provided, there was no dishwasher-safe soap included, which was a small inconvenience. Overall, the value for money is solid, especially for a central location. One minor suggestion: consider reversing the fridge door’s swing direction so it opens into the kitchen rather than toward the sleeping area. It’s an easy fix with basic tools and would significantly improve daily convenience. A thoughtful upgrade that makes a big difference.
