Staying at this hotel was an absolute delight! The room was spacious, clean, and incredibly comfortable with a cozy hanging chair perfect for relaxing with a book or just enjoying the view. Located just under 50 meters from a shopping center, everything you need is within walking distance—great for grabbing snacks, souvenirs, or dinner. There’s also a bus stop right outside the front door, making it super easy to get around town without needing a car. One of the highlights? Waking up to a stunning sunrise from the window—truly magical. The location, comfort, and attention to detail make this a top choice for any traveler visiting Cancun. Highly recommended!

Just a quick heads-up for travelers: while the hotel itself is conveniently located, I strongly advise being extra cautious when using the ADO bus terminal in Cancún city center. On the afternoon of February 4th, 2023, I was boarding a bus to Chiquila at the crowded terminal when someone stole my purse—containing cash and credit cards—right in front of me during a surge of passengers. I screamed for help, but no staff responded, as if I wasn’t even there. Afterward, they only told me to go report it to the local prosecutor’s office, which I did. These thieves are very organized—they watch their targets long before boarding, assess whether you’re traveling alone or with others, and pick the perfect moment to strike, especially during the chaos of boarding. They’ll push or jostle you right when the crowd is dense. It’s scary how vulnerable you feel with zero police presence. Please, always keep your valuables secure, avoid carrying large amounts of cash, and stay alert—especially in high-traffic areas. Your safety comes first.
Casa La Selva
I had high expectations for this event at Casa La Selva based on the reviews, but the reality was a major disappointment. We booked a dinner gathering expecting a proper taco buffet with various fillings, but instead received just basic tacos—so simple that I could’ve easily brought them myself. There was no staff attention, no table setup, and no service coordination. The scheduled 8 PM start time was completely ignored; we didn’t even receive the food until 10 PM. This kind of unreliable service makes me rethink my booking strategy—I’ll now only pay after the event to make sure what’s promised is actually delivered.
Hotel Blue Star Cancun
Staying at Hotel Blue Star Cancun was a mixed experience. While the rates are reasonable compared to other options in Cancun, cleanliness left much to be desired—hair was visible on the floor upon arrival, which wasn’t reassuring. During the day, we asked staff to empty our trash (the room only provides one small bin for all waste, including toilet paper), but they never followed up, forcing us to carry it downstairs ourselves. Breakfast consisted of stale cereal, weak coffee, basic toast, and overripe fruit—nothing exciting. We paid extra for chilaquiles, but they were underseasoned and lacked the expected spice. On the positive side, the hot water worked well, and the counter space was generous. However, the lack of a bathroom fan was frustrating, and thin glass doors and windows made the room very echoey—you could clearly hear guests talking next door. The hairdryer was dangerously hot, making it unusable. Overall, while the price point is fair, improvements in hygiene, soundproofing, and amenities would go a long way in raising the overall value.
Villa Sofia Hotel Boutique Cancun
Our stay at Villa Sofia Hotel Boutique Cancun was absolutely wonderful. Roberto, the property manager and host, was incredibly welcoming, helpful, and provided clear directions and great recommendations for local attractions. We especially loved the nearby Los Abuelos Campastre restaurant—authentic, delicious traditional food that we’ll definitely return for. Right across the road is a Soriana marketplace where we picked up groceries to prepare breakfast in our room, then enjoyed it poolside—such a convenient and relaxing way to start the day. The hotel’s close proximity to bus stations made getting to Playa Delphines (one of the most stunning beaches in the area) and Puerto Juarez (the ferry terminal to Isla Mujeres and Cozumel) super easy. We stayed in the deluxe room with a spacious balcony—cozy, beautifully decorated, and spotlessly clean. The bed was extremely comfortable, making for restful nights. The only minor drawback was the noise from the nearby amusement park, with screams from roller coaster rides echoing late into the night. This made it hard to sleep with windows open, but the air conditioning kept the room quiet and cool when closed—so it wasn’t a major issue unless you’re very sensitive to sound. Overall, the experience was outstanding. From the warm hospitality to the thoughtful amenities and unbeatable location, this place truly stands out. Highly recommended for travelers seeking comfort, convenience, and a touch of authentic Mexican charm.

The host greeted us warmly upon arrival and made sure everything was exactly to our liking. What stood out most was their genuine care—during our stay, they reached out to check if we needed anything or had any concerns, which truly made a difference. When it came time to check out, the security deposit was refunded immediately, no hassle at all. The apartment itself is spacious, well-equipped, and located in a convenient spot close to restaurants, shops, and attractions. We loved the personal touch and attention to detail that made our stay feel special. If you're looking for a comfortable, reliable, and welcoming place to stay in Cancun, this is definitely a top choice. I’d recommend it without hesitation.

The overall experience was excellent—especially the high-tech access system that lets you enter with just your phone, which is super convenient and modern. That said, I’d recommend adding a security guard at the entrance for added peace of mind, even though the area is generally safe. The building’s entrance could use better lighting, as it’s quite dim and makes the approach feel a bit eerie at night. Despite that small concern, the hotel offers great value, great location, and a really smooth stay. Definitely coming back.

That said, if you're looking for a budget-friendly option in Cancun and don’t mind these drawbacks, it could work as a basic overnight stop. Just be prepared for some compromises.

From the moment we arrived, it was clear the property didn’t match what was shown in the listing. The photos were misleading—real conditions were far worse, especially regarding cleanliness and maintenance. The walls were stained, and overall upkeep was poor. Most concerning was a large section of the wall beneath the living room air conditioner missing—very noticeable and a serious safety hazard. The bathroom window couldn’t be locked, which felt risky in a city like Cancun. Key amenities were also non-functional: the stove wouldn’t work, and the provided lighter failed to ignite, making cooking impossible. Our airport transfer wasn’t properly assigned to our name, causing a long delay in finding the place after landing. We were also disappointed that the welcome gift mentioned in our confirmation email never arrived. The shower door was broken and kept swinging inward during use, forcing us to improvise with towels just to make it usable. Even more frustrating was arriving on time, only to be delayed by a cleaning staff member who brought her child and didn’t allow entry until 4 PM—completely unprofessional. While they required a gate code and insisted on downloading an app that accessed personal devices, these measures didn’t feel secure. In fact, the windows had rusty bars and were clearly insecure. I tried reaching out before leaving to report issues and request early check-out, but received no response. Later, I contacted the platform directly for help, but got no resolution either. This lack of communication and support from management made the entire experience extremely stressful and disappointing.

The hotel is conveniently located just a short drive from the airport—about 30 minutes by car, and they offer complimentary shuttle service, which made my arrival stress-free. The overall environment is clean, well-maintained, and welcoming. The lobby has a modern yet cozy vibe, and the room was spacious with comfortable bedding and excellent air conditioning—perfect for beating the tropical heat. I appreciated how close it was to local restaurants, shops, and convenience stores; everything I needed was within walking distance. What stood out most was the great value for money—excellent quality without the premium price. If I’m back in Cancun, this will definitely be my go-to choice again.
