If I ever come back to Hunan, I’ll definitely book here again. One quick note: while Fire Palace is famous, don’t expect the same experience everywhere. We found that the free snacks like tangyuan (sweet rice balls) and stinky tofu were treated differently depending on where you went. At the business dining area, scanning the QR code got us a full serving with six toppings, but at the street food section, it was just three pieces with basic condiments—same brand, totally different treatment. It felt inconsistent, especially since both were free. Honestly, some random roadside stalls had tastier stinky tofu than their version. So if you’re craving local flavors, explore beyond the branded spots—sometimes the real gems are hidden in plain sight.
