The location is perfect: just a 10-minute bike ride to West Lake and only 8–10 minutes to Lingyin Temple, making it super convenient for exploring the area on two wheels. The surrounding trails and quiet streets make cycling or walking the best way to get around. The staff went above and beyond—before check-in, they reached out to help with transport tips and followed up afterward to see how we were enjoying our stay. Having a 24/7 concierge was a huge plus. And the breakfast? Fantastic. Since the hotel runs its own Chinese restaurant, the food is fresh, flavorful, and authentic. It’s not just a place to sleep—it feels like a home base for a peaceful, well-organized trip. Highly recommend for anyone looking for comfort, convenience, and genuine hospitality.

I especially loved the large, bright bathroom with modern amenities and the beautiful wooden flooring that adds warmth and character to the space. Breakfast was a highlight—diverse and fresh, offering both Western and Chinese options, all prepared right in front of you. It’s rare to find such quality and variety in a boutique hotel. We were incredibly lucky during the New Year holiday when the hotel upgraded our room at no extra cost—what a wonderful surprise! The accommodation was cozy and comfortable, even though the balcony felt a bit chilly. However, the view and overall atmosphere made it well worth it. The resort’s architecture is truly unique—each balcony feels like it’s nestled in a loft with a striking sloped design. Surrounded by serene mountain scenery, the property beautifully blends traditional elements: pavilions, bridges, and flowing waterways create a peaceful, almost dreamlike setting. We enjoyed both breakfast and dinner on-site, and every meal was satisfying and delicious. It’s rare to find such charm, tranquility, and excellent service all in one place. A perfect getaway that exceeded all expectations.

What truly stood out was the location: just a short walk from West Lake, making it incredibly convenient for sightseeing. Getting to Feilai Feng was also quick and easy by car or public transport. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely helpful—always smiling, ready to assist, and going the extra mile to make your stay comfortable. Dining at Zhiwei Hall was another highlight. The food was excellent, with authentic flavors and beautiful presentation. While some dishes were on the pricier side, considering the quality, setting, and service, it felt justified. My family especially loved the taste of the signature dishes and kept raving about them afterward. Overall, this was a perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and hospitality. A top-tier experience with outstanding value. I’d definitely come back and recommend it to anyone visiting Hangzhou.

The Nook Hotel Hangzhou - A design hotel, 20 mins to West Lake and Lingyin Temple

Staying at The Nook Hotel Hangzhou felt like stepping into a peaceful retreat with a minimalist, Muji-inspired vibe. The upgraded room was absolutely dreamy—my favorite part was soaking in the bathtub while gazing out at the serene mountain view through the floor-to-ceiling glass. Natural light floods in, and the open-air balcony with lush greenery outside made every moment feel calming and refreshing. Getting there was easy—just a short walk from the metro station, following clear signs up a few steps and along a tree-lined path flanked by towering gingko and sycamore trees. You’ll spot the hotel right at the corner of a quiet street. It’s just one stop from Tianmu Li, which is perfect for a full day of exploring: art exhibitions, shopping, great cafes, and Instagram-worthy architecture and nature shots. A few stops further, you can visit Zhejiang University, wetlands, or botanical gardens—all within easy reach. And if you want to head into downtown, it’s only six stops away. Super convenient! The staff were warm and attentive, and the breakfast spread was generous and delicious. Definitely worth waking up early for!

The autumn in Jiangnan truly shines at Sisan Resort. From the moment I stepped in, I was wrapped in a serene and refined atmosphere—every corner of the hotel exudes character, with minimal crowds and an effortlessly calm vibe that’s perfect for a true staycation. The bathroom scent was subtle yet delightful, instantly setting a relaxing tone. The mini-bar was stocked with an impressive variety of snacks and drinks—perfect for late-night cravings or morning refreshments. But honestly, the highlight was the breakfast at Yueya Restaurant. It’s hands down the best hotel breakfast I’ve ever had—endless options, beautifully presented, and each dish tasted thoughtfully crafted. I could’ve stayed there just for the food alone. The entire experience was flawless, and I couldn’t stop taking photos. Pure bliss. Definitely coming back.

I appreciated the complimentary parking, though I did note the local odd-even license plate restrictions, so plan accordingly if driving. Rooms are immaculate, spotless, and beautifully designed with modern comforts. It’s worth mentioning that this property was formerly known as Hangzhou Hotel, a historic landmark on Beishan Road, now revitalized under the Shangri-La brand—a perfect blend of heritage and world-class hospitality. With great value for money and such a prime location, this is one of the best stays in Hangzhou I’ve experienced.

Staying at this historic Hangzhou The New Hotel was an absolute delight. I booked the Dongzhuang Celebrity Room—"Felicity in Florence," named after Xu Zhimo—and it didn’t disappoint. The private balcony overlooks West Lake, offering breathtaking views, and the room’s design is rich with character and charm. The only minor downside? Not enough power outlets, but that’s a small trade-off for such a memorable stay. Staff across front desk and restaurant were incredibly attentive and helpful—always ready to assist with a smile. Breakfast was simple but spot-on: everything made in-house, from perfectly seared steaks to delicate wontons, juicy dumplings, and fresh salmon. It felt like a home-cooked meal with a luxury touch. For lunch, we dined at 1913 Restaurant—the signature West Lake Fish in Vinegar Sauce was outstanding, balanced and authentic. Our photographer from Xiao Wan Photography, Xiao Guo, was professional and passionate; my sister loved every single shot of her in traditional cheongsam. And then there’s Chen Bo, a true local with deep knowledge of Hangzhou’s history—he brought stories to life with warmth and humor. Despite its compact size, the hotel is full of hidden gems: every corner feels like a page from history, perfect for photos and quiet exploration. This staycation was pure bliss. I’d absolutely come back—not just for the location or views, but for the soul of the place. Next time, I’m trying another room in the Dongzhuang wing.

We arrived back at the hotel last night and were immediately assisted by the gate staff at Building 6, who promptly arranged a short shuttle to our room—very efficient and thoughtful. The restaurant staff were warm and welcoming, and Mr. Xiao Lan from Building 3 went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Staying at Westlake Villa truly made for a peaceful and refreshing experience—surrounded by beautiful natural scenery, it’s easy to unwind. The facilities are comprehensive, the rooms spotless, and the overall environment serene and elegant. Every detail reflects top-tier service and attention to comfort. This is more than just a stay—it’s a memorable retreat. We’ll definitely be back, and highly recommend this gem to anyone visiting Hangzhou.
