Mercure Hotel Köln City Friesenstraße

Staying at Mercure Hotel Köln City Friesenstraße was an absolute delight. The room was spacious, clean, and surprisingly quiet—perfect for a good night’s sleep after a day of exploring. Its central location is unbeatable: just a short walk to Cologne Cathedral, and very convenient access to both the train station and airport via public transit. I especially loved how close it was to all the main attractions without being in the middle of the tourist chaos. The breakfast buffet was fantastic—wide variety, fresh ingredients, and plenty of local treats. Staff were friendly, helpful, and made check-in feel welcoming. Everything about this hotel felt thoughtfully designed for comfort and convenience. If you're visiting Cologne, this is a top-tier choice. Highly recommended!

Hotel Weber

I would strongly advise against booking this hotel. The entire experience was extremely disappointing. Upon entering the room, I was shocked to find an open toilet inside—no privacy whatsoever, with your partner literally able to see you from the bed. Even worse, there was no toilet paper provided. Check-in was completely self-service with no staff available at the front desk. To make matters worse, the pillowcase was visibly dirty, so we had to place a towel over it just to feel safe. During check-in, we encountered a homeless person who became aggressive and actually blocked our entry—his dirty bag was left right behind the counter. The phone number listed at reception was nearly impossible to reach. Overall, the lack of hygiene, professionalism, and basic hospitality made our stay unbearable. We left early due to the disappointment. Please look for a better option—this one is not worth it.

Hotel Imperial

Hotel Imperial in Cologne-Ehrenfeld is a charming little gem with excellent value for money. Despite its compact size, it’s incredibly convenient—just a 15-minute U-Bahn ride (lines 3 and 4) from major attractions like the trade fair grounds and Lanxess Arena, making it a smart alternative to more expensive city-center hotels. The rooms are a bit dated but spacious, clean, and well-maintained, with air conditioning that came in handy during summer visits. Breakfast looked appealing, though at €18 per person, it felt a bit pricey—we’d rather grab something on the go. On the plus side, the hotel offers parking spots for guests at €25 per night, which is steep but totally justified given how hard and costly street parking can be in Ehrenfeld after 9 PM. Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay and would definitely recommend this cozy, well-located hotel.

The location is excellent—just a short walk from the city center and surrounded by restaurants, shops, and public transit options. Breakfast was a highlight: fresh, delicious, and well-prepared with a good variety of options.
