Four Seasons Hotel Suzhou
We ended up switching from the soon-to-be-closed Yangcheng Lake Banyan Tree—our original plan was a last-minute escape. Choosing Four Seasons Suzhou turned out to be one of our best decisions. The location is unbeatable: directly on the lake, with a peaceful walkway along the water that’s easy and relaxing. The hotel itself isn’t huge, so you can easily explore it without feeling overwhelmed. Our room was spacious and well-proportioned, with two single beds and a sofa that converted into an extra bed—perfect for three of us, and we all slept comfortably. We upgraded in-house for a small fee to a higher-floor lake-view room, and the view was absolutely stunning. Waking up to the calm, glass-like surface of Jinji Lake instantly lifted our mood. Dining was a bit tricky—we didn’t pre-book the Chinese restaurant, and every seating was fully booked. We tried the buffet instead, which was solid but nothing extraordinary. Still, compared to the previous hotel where the air conditioning broke in the Chinese restaurant and the Western dining only served breakfast, this was a major improvement. Staff were attentive and genuinely tried to make things right when issues came up—effort definitely shows. One highlight? The little crab buns and children’s key cards they prepared for our kids. They couldn’t stop talking about them, wore the bags everywhere, and insisted on swiping their own card to open the door. It was such a thoughtful touch that won over the whole family.

The design beautifully blends traditional Suzhou garden aesthetics with modern elegance. The view from the window overlooks the fragrant Xiang Garden, making every moment feel like a scene from a film. I also tried the signature martini at the Book & Bar lounge—it was bold, balanced, and unforgettable. Overall, this stay brought me pure joy and comfort. Location-wise, it’s perfect: close to great dining options, yet far enough from traffic congestion to keep things peaceful. Inside the room, all amenities were top-notch—fridge, washing machine, microwave—all clean and well-maintained (even though I didn’t use them, I did check them out, and they looked brand new). Everything felt fresh, modern, and thoughtfully designed. Overall, this place exceeded my expectations. I’ll definitely be coming back if I visit Suzhou again.

In the evening, we headed to the Ferris wheel and were pleasantly surprised by how few people were in line—got tickets and boarded right away, enjoying stunning views of the city skyline. The hotel’s Chinese restaurant served amazing noodles with crisp vegetables, and the squirrel-shaped mandarin fish was freshly prepared—absolutely delicious. Breakfast was a highlight too, with a diverse menu including sesame dumplings, Ao Zao noodles, egg rolls, Benedict eggs, sweet pea and pomelo cheese salad, and the yellow peach milk banana pancake—each dish was flavorful and satisfying. Staff were friendly and attentive throughout our stay. From comfort to convenience, every detail was spot-on. This place truly delivers on luxury and value. I’ll definitely be back.

Right below the building is a large park, and across the street is another green space—perfect for those who love peace and quiet.
