My mom and I came to Suzhou for a national security match, and we stayed at Mechar Hotel—what an amazing experience! The hotel is literally right outside the metro station, making arrival super convenient. It's just a short walk from Dongfang Gate and Jinji Lake, which is absolutely stunning—especially with the free water bus service 🚌. If we had more time, we’d definitely stay longer to enjoy everything. The location is perfect for exploring other attractions via subway, though it’s a bit far from Suzhou North Railway Station—so I’d recommend arriving at Suzhou Station instead. The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and they even gave us little snacks when checking out 😊. Super thoughtful! We’ll definitely come back if we visit Suzhou again. This stay was absolutely excellent—definitely one of the best experiences I've had at a hotel in recent years. The staff were incredibly responsive; just a quick call or message to reception and anything you need arrived promptly, which made everything so convenient. The room itself was spacious—way bigger than expected for the price—and that’s a huge win for value. Location-wise, it’s perfect: close to great dining options, yet far enough from traffic congestion to keep things peaceful. Inside the room, all amenities were top-notch—fridge, washing machine, microwave—all clean and well-maintained (even though I didn’t use them, I did check them out, and they looked brand new). Everything felt fresh, modern, and thoughtfully designed. Overall, this place exceeded my expectations. I’ll definitely be coming back if I visit Suzhou again.

Shangri-La Hotel, Suzhou Yuanqu

Staying at Shangri-La Hotel, Suzhou Yuanqu was an absolute delight. The location is fantastic—right next to 711, FamilyMart, and Starbucks, so grabbing a quick coffee or snack is super convenient. A short walk takes you to Xinguang Plaza and Juyou Department Store, perfect for some shopping without needing to travel far. In the evening, we headed to the Ferris wheel and were pleasantly surprised by how few people were in line—got tickets and boarded right away, enjoying stunning views of the city skyline. The hotel’s Chinese restaurant served amazing noodles with crisp vegetables, and the squirrel-shaped mandarin fish was freshly prepared—absolutely delicious. Breakfast was a highlight too, with a diverse menu including sesame dumplings, Ao Zao noodles, egg rolls, Benedict eggs, sweet pea and pomelo cheese salad, and the yellow peach milk banana pancake—each dish was flavorful and satisfying. Staff were friendly and attentive throughout our stay. From comfort to convenience, every detail was spot-on. This place truly delivers on luxury and value. I’ll definitely be back.
