Our stay at The Banq Apartments by Urban Rest in Sydney was extremely disappointing. The cleanliness of the property was far below expectations—dust covered every surface, stains were visible on the carpets, and we even found nail clippings and cobwebs both inside and outside the unit. To make matters worse, the dryer was completely broken and unusable. We also couldn’t access the bin room due to locked doors, which made waste disposal a hassle. The worst part was when my partner stepped on glass fragments while walking around the living area, resulting in a painful injury. Safety, hygiene, and basic functionality were all severely lacking. This experience fell far short of what we’d expect from a reputable accommodation, and we wouldn’t recommend it to others.

A few stoves didn’t work, but that’s a minor issue considering how well the rest of the kitchen is kept. Showers have been upgraded recently—new ones with strong water pressure—so I highly recommend using the ones near the staircases instead of those by the garden. They’re clean, fresh, and satisfying. Staff are friendly, professional, and always willing to help with local tips or activity suggestions. What really stood out compared to other hostels? The clear expectations around hygiene and cleanliness. They don’t hesitate to kindly remind guests to tidy up their space—always in a respectful, non-confrontational way.
