This hotel is an absolute must-visit if you're driving—definitely not ideal for those without a car, as it's nestled high in the hills behind Salzburg. The views of the city at sunset are breathtaking and truly unforgettable. While the Michelin-starred restaurant was closed on Sunday during our stay, the breakfast experience still ranked among my top two ever—only surpassed by Landhaus zu Appesch by Wolfgangsee. That said, this place offers the best value for money. The outdoor pool is perfect for relaxing under the alpine sky, and the hillside is home to a small flock of sheep and beehives. I actually tried calling out to the sheep and got a surprisingly fierce response—hilarious! The grassy area right in front of the hotel is ideal for reading, sipping beer, or just soaking up the sun. Moments like these are pure bliss—simple, peaceful, and deeply refreshing.

Staying at Gasthof Hotel Doktorwirt was a delightful experience from start to finish. The warm welcome from the staff set the tone for a comfortable and memorable visit. Our room was cozy and well-appointed, featuring a great shower and a private balcony overlooking lush gardens and a peaceful outdoor pool—though we were unlucky with the weather, as it rained heavily throughout our stay, so we couldn’t make full use of the balcony. That said, I’m sure it would be a real highlight on a sunny day. Breakfast was excellent—fresh, hearty, and perfectly balanced. The hotel’s location is ideal for getting into Salzburg by bus, just a short ride away. There’s a small bar on-site, though no dinner service in the evenings. However, there are several restaurants within walking distance, and we tried one nearby (just a 5-minute walk) that served authentic local cuisine—absolutely delicious, though I can’t recall the name now. One thing to note: many places in Salzburg, including this one, operate on cash-only basis, which was common during our trip through the region, including Berchtesgaden. Overall, this place offers a genuine, homely feel with excellent value. If we ever return to Salzburg, we’d definitely choose to stay here again.

This hotel is a fantastic choice if you're looking for something modern, clean, and well-priced. The location isn't right in the heart of Old Town—about a 15-minute walk—but it's very convenient with good public transport access. The rooms are on the smaller side, but honestly, that didn’t bother me at all since we were out exploring most of the day. I just needed a cozy place to rest at night, and this hotel delivered perfectly. It’s not perfect in every aspect, but for the price and quality, it’s absolutely worth it. Great value, great vibe, and highly recommended.

The location of this hotel is absolutely perfect—right across from the fortress, with stunning views just by stepping outside. Walking to all major attractions is effortless and enjoyable, making it ideal for exploring Salzburg on foot. The area is remarkably quiet, offering a peaceful retreat amidst the city’s charm. The room size is just right—not too cramped, not too spacious—perfectly balanced for comfort. Salzburg itself is breathtakingly beautiful, and staying here only enhances the experience. It’s clear why this place earns top marks: excellent location, serene atmosphere, and great value. I’d definitely return without hesitation.

Every stay here is a delight, and after the renovation, it’s even better. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive—right down to the manager himself, who goes above and beyond. Located a bit outside of Salzburg city center, Hotel Heffterhof requires either a car or public transportation to reach—though it's actually quite convenient once you're there. We arrived late at night, but the staff were incredibly reliable and got us checked in swiftly without any hassle. The breakfast was excellent—fresh, varied, and full of local touches that made the morning feel special. One tip: be sure to contact the hotel in advance to request a tourist card, which grants free access to the city’s public buses. This is a huge plus for travelers exploring the area. Despite the slight distance from downtown, the hospitality, comfort, and added perks make this stay well worth it. A truly memorable experience with great value.

This charming guesthouse truly exceeded my expectations in every way. The hosts were warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive without being intrusive—perfect balance of hospitality. Located just outside Salzburg’s city center, it’s incredibly easy to reach downtown via the frequent and convenient bus and trolley services—no hassle at all. Our room was spacious with a separate living area, and the bathroom was surprisingly large for this type of accommodation, featuring a generous jetted shower that made for a relaxing experience. The bed was comfortable and well-sized, perfect for a good night’s sleep. The interior design throughout the rooms and common areas was thoughtfully done—stylish yet cozy, with attention to detail. The atmosphere was wonderfully quiet; I didn’t hear any external noise or even from other guests during the night—ideal for restful sleep. Breakfast was a highlight: a generous buffet with both sweet and savory options, all made with high-quality ingredients. Fresh pastries, local cheeses, organic jams, and excellent coffee—everything tasted homemade and delicious. Wi-Fi was strong and reliable throughout the stay. Overall, this is a hidden gem with exceptional value, comfort, and service. I’d happily return and recommend it to anyone visiting Salzburg.

Staying at Amadeo Hotel Schaffenrath was an absolute delight. The location is perfect—just a short walk from the city center and easy to reach by public transit. What stood out most was the free parking, which made our road trip stress-free and convenient. Every morning, waking up to the sight of the sunlit mountains through the window was magical—the golden rays hitting the peaks created a breathtaking view that instantly lifted my mood. The rooms are clean, cozy, and thoughtfully designed, with a nice blend of modern comfort and traditional Austrian charm. Staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. It’s rare to find such a well-balanced experience in a boutique hotel, especially at this price point. I’d highly recommend this gem to anyone visiting Salzburg—it’s not just a place to stay, it’s part of the journey.

Staying at ARCOTEL Castellani Salzburg in Salzburg felt like coming home, even though I was far from familiar territory. From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel welcome with warm smiles and attentive service. The room was spotless, beautifully designed, and incredibly comfortable—especially the bed, which offered just the right balance of firmness and softness for a restful night's sleep. Its central location made exploring the city effortless; I could reach the historic downtown area by public transit in just minutes. There were plenty of great dining options nearby, and the evening atmosphere around the hotel was vibrant and inviting. The breakfast spread was outstanding—fresh local ingredients, a wide variety of choices, and delicious flavors that started my day on the right note. This wasn’t just a place to stay—it was an experience. Highly recommended, and I’ll definitely be returning next time I visit Salzburg.

The interior design feels a bit dated, but the price is incredibly good for what you get. The location is convenient—just a short walk from downtown Salzburg and easy access to public transit.
