Romantikhotel Die Gersberg Alm

This hotel is an absolute must-visit if you're driving—definitely not ideal for those without a car, as it's nestled high in the hills behind Salzburg. The views of the city at sunset are breathtaking and truly unforgettable. While the Michelin-starred restaurant was closed on Sunday during our stay, the breakfast experience still ranked among my top two ever—only surpassed by Landhaus zu Appesch by Wolfgangsee. That said, this place offers the best value for money. The outdoor pool is perfect for relaxing under the alpine sky, and the hillside is home to a small flock of sheep and beehives. I actually tried calling out to the sheep and got a surprisingly fierce response—hilarious! The grassy area right in front of the hotel is ideal for reading, sipping beer, or just soaking up the sun. Moments like these are pure bliss—simple, peaceful, and deeply refreshing.

Room 4 & 5 Apartments

A perfect weekend getaway for a couple, staying in the sky lounge was an absolute delight. From the moment we arrived, everything we needed was right there—no missing essentials, no stress. We got there early and called to ask if we could check in sooner; the team was incredibly helpful and arranged it without any hassle. The apartment itself was stunning: modern, clean, and thoughtfully designed with all the comforts of home. Our only small suggestion would be upgrading the TV to a smart one for more streaming options. Also, maybe one extra towel per person for a week-long stay—because who wouldn’t want to soak in that gorgeous bathtub every single day? Location-wise, it couldn’t be better: just a short walk into the heart of Salzburg’s main town, surrounded by fantastic local restaurants. Plus, the apartment provided a detailed, well-curated guide to hidden gems nearby—truly thoughtful. We’d absolutely return and recommend this place to anyone visiting Salzburg. A top-tier experience from start to finish.

Staying at Altstadt Hotel Stadtkrug was an absolute delight from start to finish. The staff went above and beyond—warm, welcoming, and fluent in English, making communication effortless. The room was spotless and incredibly comfortable, with a cozy bed that made for a restful night’s sleep. It did get a bit warm, but the oscillating tower fan worked like a charm, keeping things cool and quiet throughout the night. Breakfast was a delightful mix of traditional European staples—fresh bread, local cheeses, jam, and strong coffee—all served with a smile. Best of all? The location. Right in the heart of Salzburg’s old town, you’re steps away from cobblestone streets, historic churches, and stunning views of Hohensalzburg Castle. If you want authenticity, charm, and a true sense of place, this hotel delivers on every level. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Salzburg.

This hotel offers incredible value for money! Just a 10-minute tram ride from Salzburg’s central station, it might seem a bit far from the city center at first glance, but if you're not in a rush, this place is absolutely worth it. The rooms are quiet, clean, and comfortable—perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. The front desk staff stands out: a charming young guy and a friendly lady who went above and beyond. They patiently helped me book a day tour the next morning and even shared some great local tips. Their warm hospitality made a real difference. I left feeling welcomed and well taken care of. Apt. Stone-Lodge

Before our arrival, we received multiple emails with detailed PDFs outlining all the amenities and services offered by the property—very thorough! However, upon arrival, we ran into parking issues. The apartment is located on a pedestrian-only street, and the nearby covered parking (€44 per day!) was fully booked, as were all the paid spots along the main road (max 180 minutes, with fees). We reached out to the host, who was incredibly helpful and responsive in finding a solution. Access to the property required a code, but due to a technical glitch, we didn’t receive it until calling the host right before check-in. As described on the platform, the building sits adjacent to the mountain—so no elevator, just a narrow, steep staircase with low ceilings. Entry wasn’t easy, especially if you’re carrying luggage. The studio was small but well-equipped: kitchenware, dishes, pots, kettle, coffee machine (with complimentary pods, tea bags, and two Mozart chocolates), towels, iron and ironing board, fridge, dish soap, even salt and oil. Bathroom was tiny but clean. The window faced the quiet private street—great for peace and privacy. It’s only a 10-minute walk to the historic center, which is convenient. Overall, the charm of being tucked into the mountainside is undeniable. But honestly, the access challenges, lack of storage space, no bedside tables or shelves near the bed, and the extremely compact bathroom make it hard to justify the price point. Some things are unavoidable given the age and location—but if the value-for-money balance were better, this would be a much stronger recommendation.

Hotel Josefa

Staying at Hotel Josefa was an absolute delight—a hidden gem in Salzburg. This charming, family-run hotel offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere with spotless, comfortable rooms that feel like home. The breakfast was fresh and satisfying, but the real highlight was the coffee—rich, aromatic, and one of the best I’ve had in years. While it’s a 20-minute walk to the old town, public buses are frequent, affordable, and make getting around effortless. Plus, there are plenty of great local restaurants nearby. With its cozy vibe, excellent service, and unbeatable location for exploring the city, I’d absolutely stay here again without hesitation.

myNext - Riverside Hotel Salzburg

Our stay at myNext - Riverside Hotel Salzburg was absolutely wonderful. The location couldn’t be better—just a short walk from major attractions and directly beside the river, with a peaceful walking path perfect for morning strolls. Free parking is available on weekends, and staff are happy to guide you to nearby paid lots during weekdays—very convenient. The room itself is cozy and welcoming, with a welcome drink and fresh juice waiting in the minibar. We especially loved the shared kitchen area, complete with dishes and cookware—great for preparing meals or even sharing leftovers with fellow guests. There’s also a washing machine in the basement (5€ for coins and detergent), which works perfectly fine. The backyard garden is a real highlight—lush with trees, flowers, and even some vegetables, creating a serene, almost rural vibe. The staff go above and beyond: always smiling, offering apples and candies at reception, and providing luggage storage for early check-ins. It’s clear they care about guest comfort. Villa Trapp

If you're a fan of The Sound of Music like me, visiting Villa Trapp is an absolute must. While the house doesn’t look exactly like the movie version, that’s actually part of its charm—it’s real history, not a set. Walking through the rooms, learning about the von Trapp family’s incredible escape story (yes, they took a train!) gives such a personal and emotional connection to the legacy. The villa itself has a classic European elegance with cozy, well-preserved interiors that feel both timeless and warm. It’s a bit on the pricier side, but honestly, for one night, it’s totally worth it. A unique, authentic experience that goes beyond just a hotel stay—more like stepping into a living piece of history.
